HELP!!!! 07 TL key fob !

omg. so i was impatient and i decided to take apart the 07 tl switchblade key. and cut up my key 1 that i was using since it was pretty scratched up... i put the immobilizer into the new tl switchblade key along with the key part of mine... however when i tested it before reassembling, the car wont start...

You should know what you are doing before you try this you know...
If you tried to start your car with an ineffective immobilizer, you may have disabled your vehicles electrical system which will put you in quite a bind...

have you tried using the Key 2 to see if your car starts? Hopefully it will. If so, get another Key 1, or check this thread - https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...282#post656282 and have someone else do it. See what being impatient gets you?

No he wouldn't. It doesn't turn anything off it just wont start. I've used the wrong key (two acura keys on my key chain) before on accident and its no biggie.

Umm, did you use a key that was CUT for your car without the programming, or just another acura key for a different car....that makes a difference you know...

If you use a key cut for your car and the chip is not programmed, you electrical system will be disabled until you can get it towed to the dealer.

That is false. I have a cut key without programming and it doesn't disable the electrical system. I use that key for performing compression tests so I don't need to pull the fuel pump fuse.

Stupid question, but did you remove the immobilizer chip in the TL key?

In order to correctly and safely perform an engine compression test, the fuel supply needs to be disabled so no fuel is injected down the cylinders during the test. Some choose to disconnect the injector plugs, and some choose to disable the fuel pump by removing the fuse. I choose to use a simple $2.00 cut key so the immobilizer won't function to energize the main relay to power the fuel pump. Since you have to turn the key to crank the engine anyway, why not disable the fuel pump at the same time? I consider it a simple, cheap and useful tool in the tool box.

moda_way, didnt you recommend destroying the 07 TL chip while it is in the key rather than removing it?

umm its just taking it to the dealer to get it cut to your key which any locksmith can do and having the immobilizer pair to your car. Call locksmiths and dealers around your area
