Exclamation final drive gear

with black_6spd doing the gear swap it got me to thinking can a final drive swap be done...since the AT gears cant swap with MT are the final drive gears interchangeable and how hard would it be to change in comparisson to the 2,3,4,5 swap...thanks for the info

To me, it's not the final drive ratio that's annoying, it's the space between 1st and 2nd.

wouldnt a shorter final drive make all gears essentially shorter giving a lower top speed and higher rpm at each speed in each gear similar to a gear change still giving the same drop of in the 1-2 shift but since us AT guys dont have interchangeable gears...thats how i understand it...or am i wrong? i know thats how the mustang/camaro/firebird/rsx guys do it...i was wondering if like say a type-r final drive could work with a AT tsx assuming it would be an improvement since the tsx is generally geared for efficiency instead of performance contradictory to the type-r

along with the final drive gear what about the race header for the rsx-s...would it fit on our car since the k20a resides in the euro-r is essentially the same as the k20a2/3/z1 in the rsx...would the race header bolt up or would it be a pain in the ass to get the header to meet up to the exhaust piping?

rsx/integra exhaust manifold will not fit the tsx. EUROR specific applications will with the combination of a EUROR sized cat.

Minor custom welding can make Euro-R exhaust manifolds fit on a TSX without the need for a Euro-R cat.

I thought this thread is about final drive gear, why is it race header now???

Anyways, I don't really like the 5AT gear ratio, the 5th gear is for fuel efficency. So we only have about 4 gears to play w/ in SS mode, and each of these 4 gear max out at every 60km/h interval. 1st- max @ ~60km/h. 2nd- max @ 120km/h. 3rd- max @ ~180km/h. and 4th takes the rest. If the last gear can put into some use and shorten the first 4th gear, then it will be good~!
e.g would be 1st- max @ ~50km/h. 2nd- max @ 100km/h. 3rd- max @ 150km/h. 4th- max @ 200km/h. and the fifth do the rest. I don't know if it's help acceleration or screw up the fuel efficiency but it feels better that way.
