Euro-R Grill doesn't fit help!

i have taken the euro-r grill to an auto shop but it says it doesn't fit at all... he said there will be a gap with a size of a finger and that even if you forced to put it it will be hanging unstably. please tell me what i can do so that it can fit in. any successful case in the past? i really like the grill and don't want to give up installing it.

It's a repost. Other members have the same problem. So far I didn't see a solution. For detail, do a search

You would have to have one small ass finger to fit it in there. You need to ensure the lips on the grill are BELOW the tab on the bumper. It's a bitch to ensure the bottom one in specific is below the tab, but time and patience will get it done. Yes, a gap will be there, something you have to live with when modding your car, but not even close to a full fingers width gap.
Also importing a new bumper will require more than just a bumper. You need the new parts behind the bumper as safety standards are different in Japan vs the US. I think InspireS had to go through some changes in order to get his phase bumper to fit, cause it's not a simple remove and replace.

i have no experience in taking things apart and putting things together though... so it will be the auto shop tech guy that will need to be patient when doing it?

oh yeah wanted to ask... do you know whether the stock chrome trims will fit the euro-r grill?

thanks a lot cmf

The stock chrome trim will fit onto the euroR grill but there's going to be a gap between the chrome trim and the grill. If I remembered correctly, there will be three holes that can't screw into the chrome trim and it shows the screw holes.

Here's a pic of mine.

Sorry about the size of the pic

thanks jefftsx man... yeah i was trying to get him to fit the stock trims and he said about the holes too.. so you think any shops sells the chrome bottom trim piece? or possible to just paint the white trim that i have to chrome?

oh yeah i saw yours uses the stock hood trim.. so the hood trim fits, just the bottom trim doesn't?

thx again.

It'll be hard to find the chrome bottom trim to fit the grill unless you order it from Japan or Hong Kong. You'll have better luck in finding the hood trim in body colour (boomplustoys.com sells it) to match the bottom piece. I'm just wondering, do you have the euroR radiator cover? I don't but I've ordered mine already and when it comes in, I'm gonna test fit it again by forcing the grill down. If that still doesn't work than I might get a body shop to custom make the bottom white trim slighty larger.

ohhh the euroR radiator cover from boomplustoys? what does it do i thought it was useless... can you explain?

i ordered my stuff from PolePositionProducts i got the hood trim, and the euro-r grill and the trims are PWP. but then i think it's gonna look better (in my opinion and taste) with chrome trims so it looks like the accord in japan instead of euro-r. Euro-R doesn't look that good on PWP in my opinion again - i only like the blue on euro-r.

Well I have no idea how your shop made your grill stay on tight but mine without the radiator cover, it's not tight at all. I used only 2 of the OEM push in clips on the side and 4 zip ties on the bottm. (Yes I know it's ghetto) And I don't think you could mount it tight without cover. You should double check how they did it. I'm curious now!!!

I ordered the cover and euroR front lip from boomplus. But my grill and bottom trim is actually from Japan. My friend went there in Dec for the Toyko Auto Salon so he got it from a dealership there. It only costed me $120CAD.

yes the grill is not tight and very unstable when put on, now it's reversed back to the stock grill. but i am confused... are you referring to radiator cover at

http://www.aj-racing.com/pages.php?page_id=jdm-cl7

or

http://boomplustoys.net/jdm_accord.shtml

they have different names but are they the same?

$120CAD wow that's a great deal. but PPP has similar price.. but just that they have shipping.

Can you post some pictures? I have a friend installed the Euro R grill with the bottom grill trim piece, there is a very small gap, but no where close to a finger size gap. I have the Mugen grill and there also a small gap at the bottom, but no where close to a finger size gap too.

Me and my friend both also have the radiator cover and the hood trim, the whole install were done in like 45 mins, and that already included removing the bumper for the install.

Exactly, there will be a small gap at the bottom regardless if you have the radiator cover (JDM) or not. Some have made a slight mod to their OEM cover to use, and others like myself, bought the JDM one. Either way, what holds the grill down and creates that gap at the bottom is the tab on the actual bumper where the grill sits. The grill has another tab/ lip that needs to be below the tab on the bumper.

If I weren't one of the lucky ones that did not have to use zip ties, I would take it off and take pics, but I fear braking the little screws/pins that hold the bottom part of the grill in place!
Hope that makes sense..........Neochaser, nice grill. Like the Euro-R one better on your car!

what can i say? it looks so sweet.. exactly what i want - chrome trim with euro-r grill and the gap is small enough to be acceptable. did you buy a euro-r grill chrome bottom trim or is that the stock? did you use the radiator cover?

so cmf and others, do you think neochaser's grill will fit even more properly if a JDM radiator cover was in place?

neochaser: why don't you get it at PPP, boomplustoys or aj-racing?

The way his looks is as good as it's gonna get. If anything, the JDM radiator cover will just ensure the top is in place right if anything at all.

wingwing. The JDM cover WILL NOT eliminate the gap. I got it cause I want to hold the grill down more firmly so I might be able to install it without the gap.

ohhh but having it is still a good thing so you can hold the grill more firmly. the gaps aren't that unacceptable on neochaser, so for sure i can live with it. now i just need to order a chrome bottom trim from PPP. the reason why the grill was so unstable on my car was that i was trying to fit the stock chrome button trim (because of the 3 holes).
