Thumbs up easiest way to open map light covers

I have the blue LED festoon style bulbs in my map light housings and am thinking about switching out for the 9 LED bulbs. Anyway, after a little probing and poking I believe I have found the easiest and least damaging way to open up the covers. This involves no tools whatsoever. I was able to open the right cover by pushing on the corner of the cover nearest the rear of the car, right side until it clicked. then i pushed a little harder and the inside front corner of the cover popped out just enough to pull the entire cover out. it did not bend or crack any part of the clips, it just popped out very easily. I tried it on the left side (opposite ends) and came up with the same result. Just to be safe, I did it about 5 times again on each side. No problems at all.

I know that even though several of us have used screwdrivers with towels, there often is still markings on the plastic housing. With this method, there is no markings at all. It just takes a little faith to push just a little harder.

If this has already been discovered, then i apologize for the repost.

Use a pen if you dont want to use a flathead, put it in the gaps of the lense, push (the gaps have little clips that release the lense) and they should come right out without scratching. This is what I did. Hope it helps.

i just install those blue LED in my car (bough it from tec_toyz and got it two days ago). First i though that i will scratch or break the cover if i use the flat head and even with the towels, afterward i figure that it's not too bad to remove the cover, and the flathead won't do any harm to the cover if you are gentle enough ~ and btw those blue LED looks so so freaking nice at night!! loving it
