Do theytake apart the door when installing tint?

do tint shops take the door apart to install tint usually? If they do, are they able to put them back perfectly as before?

oh that makes perfect sense....

Maybe my question was too dramatic... I meant like the door panels... I've heard that some places take it apart, and some places do not...

I've done tint myself and had it done professionally and in both cases, no disassembly was required. The tint can be slid underneath the doorline while it is being setup so that it doesn't catch when opening and closing your window.

If you're new to getting tint, make sure you ask around before getting it done. If you know people who can recommend somebody, that's the best. Don't believe your buddy who's done 4 of his friend's cars. It's worth the $200 (or so) to get it done professionally.

$315 include tax sounds like a rip off for a tint job.

It's good tint, but I agree that $315 is a bit high. Of course, I don't live in the ATL, so maybe that's how it is down there. I'd shop around a get a few more quotes first.

They would have to take the door panels off only if they are installing the felt / moleskin. This is the reason for the cost. Get a thicker, higher quality tint film w/ manufacturers warrenty and you don't need to worry about scratches.

I just called another place, and they are quoting $300 even for 3M carbon fiber or something (one without any metal). I asked about felt, and the lady who answered the phone was like Huh?? I don't understand. She like mal-functioned.

Anyways, I guess that's the going price for non-metallic ones here....

and gt0279a, my gt number was gte176f

I'm in NY too, but I have 30% on my front windows. Darker than is legal, but I haven't been pulled over yet. I just wanted it to match everything else. Plus 30% is about the best level I can think of. Not too dark, not too light. 200 per window is ridiculous, but I'll take the chance. My uncle is a judge in my area, so I might be able to slide a bit.

Is this for Cermaic tint?
Does it include the front doors too, or only the rear doors and rear windshield?

I just got my tints done for $191 after tax with Global 20%'s They are really really clear tints, they go seemless with the glass. The guy was going to charge $20 a door he had to add felt on.

It is ceramic tint. I think the guy I spoke to on the phone said that pinnacle is the top of the line Formula One tint, and I would need this to make sure it doesn't distort anything such as navigation and xm or what not.

I am also certain its for all 4 doors and rear if I remember....

and $315 includes felt too. When I asked about felt, he said "oh we don't charge for that".

No.

If a pro does it and uses a top quality product with a warranty figure $250.00+/- (Cali Price). Also, be careful how you clean them and DO NOT rool down your windows for at least 2+ weeks. For cleaning I use Sprayway - alcohol only, NO AMMONIA.

Sorry to bring back the old thread, but I am finally ready to get my car tinted, before it gets warmer and too hot. I've been looking around, and everywhere I ask, they are quoting me $300 and higher for the job... Does anyone in Atlanta area know of a reputable place that will tint TSX for less than that?

I heard Solarworks in Roswell is really good, and they quoted me $350 including felt (I think they use Pinnacle ceramic), and they said they do take apart the door panel to install the felt and tint.

If I can't find anywhere else, I guess I'll have to go there... I'm just scared that them taking apart the door and puttting it together might create any sort of rattles.... I only have the squeaky driver's seat but no rattles anywhere else on my 1 month old TSX.... Has anyone had any problems from tint shops taking door panels off and back on during a tint job?

Thanks.
