'06 Wipers on '05?

Anyone do any research to see if it will be possible to put the new wipers on 04/05's?
Now that I've seen the new ones, I find mine to be obnoxiously large.

I doubt this will be possible. The entire arm(s) have been redesigned.

And yes, they are large.

But isn't part of the point of replacing the wipers to replace the arms? Should be doable since it's just two 'pivot' screw-like things that attach the wiper arms to the motors...

I think that as long as the pivot points are in the same spot and arms are same length from pivot-to-wiper joint, it should be fine.

I plan to research this EVENTUALLY, but don't hold your breath for my results. LOL.

The humongous 04/05 wiper arms are about $60 a piece, btw.

I actually thought the thick arms make them look more luxurious as opposed to the traditional thin Honda wiper arms.... that's how they were on the German cars anyway.... but until the new ones came out, now they look wayyy to big and obscuring the drivers view... or maybe I'm just more conscious of it now..

As soon as the part numbers show up in my online tool, I can get some specs and see if they'd work or not.

I can't imagine that they redesigned the entire area for new wipers.

Maybe they did it for better aerodynamics. Not so much for looks. It doesn't really look that much more luxurious.

Hey guys, I was trying to find a way to make the 04/05 wipers smaller so I order a pair of Valeo wiper blades from tirerack.com this evening.

http://www.tirerack.com/accessories/valeo/ultimate.jsp#

I've only heard great things about them, seen them work pretty well in an audi and I know that they are 30 bucks each but since I needed new wipers I figured this might be the closest thing I can do to make the wipers smaller and make it look like the 06 without drastic changes. You guys think this would work?

We're going to have to switch out the whole arm. I just hope it's easy.

I watched the windshield repair guy switch mine out... VERY SIMPLE. I think the costly part is going to be the arm itself.

You'd think Honda would update their damn catalogs since the 2006 model is out. GEESH!!

Any idea when they'll have the arm part available? I might as well exchange mine with my friend's 06 TSX, hahahahaha. Maybe she won't know the difference

I really don't see the need to change it out....it doesn't bother me.

I do hate the fact that we have the hood trim though!

I'm checking daily for the 06 Civic Si and the 06 TSX. Trust me, I'll post part numbers and specs as soon as I see it up.

If you can take a look at your friend's 06 and see, that would be the info we need. Nevermind the wiper blades, just look at the arms and see if they measure the same between the mounting points. Then seen if they use the same size nut. If those both are the same as our 04/05 TSXs, then it is a pretty good chance they will work on ours.

I have the Valeo's and they are a huge improvement over OEM.

Could someone post a pic of the 04/05 with the valeo wiper blades?

This could be a cheap solution with acceptable results, especially if we can't switch out the arms.

My TSX is presently at the dealer getting new seat base, alignment (extreme pull to left), and temp sensor rattle fixed. I will post pictures later tonight of my Valeos.

It's not so much the look for me. The problem is using them, they catch water since they're so big and then the wind blows it back onto the window right after they go past so it's never clear.

I want to switch. As long as there not $100 each. It looks like they are the same position on the hood. Cant imagine they'd change out the whole area just for the blades. My current ones shoot water back up onto the window after they pass. It's really annoying to me. I'm no the east coast and get a good deal of use out of my wipers. I'll keep checking this post.

I called the dealer in my area (New Jersey). They didnt have it in, nor a part number. He didnt know the 06's were even out. Hmm... Any way, the 05 arm and wiper is $100 each. Yikes! That's $200 to replace them.

I think the tool I use is the same the dealers have, so as soon as I get the info, I'll post it.

The pics will have to wait til tomorrow. The dealer did not finish fixing my car today, said it would be done by noon tomorrow (Wednesday). I will post them as soon as possible.

I guess they weren't anticipating that folks were going to wear out the windshield wipers already. lol

I know people have mentioned them on here, but not in this thread. Don't the Valeo "ultimate" wipers look identical to what is on the '06? As a matter of fact, couldn't valeo be supplying them as OEM? Check out the link to tirerack, $30 a piece, definitely not $200 for new arms, and they have the direct replacement sizes (26"/16") for the '04-'05.

Those wipers look very much like the wipers on my 2002 Audi A6. I f they perform like the Audi wipers, they are a big step backwards. I have have had mine replaced twice under the Audi service plan and they don't work as well as my TSX wipers. Also, if my memory serves me, each blade costs 30+ bucks and is only available from the dealer.

THe 04/05 wipers look great from the outside, and they function fine. Its just that visibility from the inside suffers slightly due to their size.

Here they are. As you can see the arm is still a little high.

How do they wipe compared to stock OEM? Are they going to last any longer?
