DIY Door release lighting
This is your thankgiving, Christmas and Hanukkah present. This is my first DIY thread so dont flame me if I mispelled or forgot somthing.
Here we go.. READ first Then READ again then Attempt it.
Tools needed
Power drill
Phillips screw driver
Flat head screw driver
17/64 drill bit
3/16 drill bit
Round bastard file or dremel
Wire stripper
Other stuff
duct tape
4 of these from superbrightleds.com buy some extras just in case.
and some brains.
Now the fun starts..
I. flaten the leds untilthey are flush with the holder with some sandpaper or a dremel.

II. Remove the panels as described in these threads
Removing the door panels..
Front https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13636
Rear http://www.chrishorne.com/gallery/TSXspeakers
II. The front panels have some gold screws you have to remove to take out the door release. I'll show you the hidden ones the rest are easy to spot.
under the green foam
and the others

dont forget the ones in front
III. Remove the door release by pressing on the clips and pushing out.
Now you got it where you want it.. Hehe
IV. Mark the hole on the part where it tapers or else it will not fit.
Next use the 3/16 bit to drill a pilot hole then the 17/64 bit to do the final hole
careful do not push down hard because when it goes thru it can do damage.
V. Put the release back in to mark the pink plastic where you will be removing some material from so the LED will fit. Now remove it again.
Use the bastard file to create a notch in the panel where you maked it. Start filing
in the back but dont go to far.
Turn the panel over and finish filing from the other side without going past my red mark.
The LED gholder should fit like this.
VI. Take out the release and put the LED in the holder. Now put the release back in. make sure the LED does not pop out. put the ring over and squeeze it in between the pink panel and the door release with a flat screwdriver.
VII. Tape the wiring the panel using duct tape and make sure you do not cover any areas where screws need to pass.
Run the wire where the window switches are and tape them up to the panel too.
Dont mind my pic, I did a little extra work. You'll see.
VIII. Put the door panel back on.
IX. Strip the wire leaving about 3/8 of the wire exposed then twist the wire
and bend it to look like this.
Stick it into the back of the wiring harness like shown if it is too loose
you can add some solder to make the wires thicker. Make sure the wire is
thick enough where it is a little hard to get in there. Once in give the wires some slack and tape them up to the ther wires. The drivers side power comes from the
two wires shown in the pic but the rest you are going to have to figure out.
HAHAHAHAAAA
I am going to add some push terminals later so when I have to remove the panels all I have to do it unclip them and I'm good.
Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving.

LOL. Thanks man. I just put some black tape over the ones in the door pockets
because they are too bright but when I figure out what resistors I need I will
test them out and see if it gives me the intensity I want. Then I will post them here.
