Do a search on it... tons of info about it. Yes, it does do something significant if paired with a header.

I just got Comptech headers/RT Cat./Comptech Cat. Back, sounds like a completely different engine, that sound is real deep. Its definately a great mod. I too also doubled up on the gaskets from the cat. to the exhaust. no CEL!

Moda_Way, did you get your car dyno yet? I am thinking of doing it just to see actual gains. I only have approx. whp gains, my guess is 13 whp (from I/H/E) and maybe 6 whp (from RT Cat)?

I just recently did the comptech header and RT cat install. Went pretty smoothly, except for the fact that I couldn't get the comptech header and RT cat to mate completely. There is like a very small gap between the loose "house shaped" flange on the RT cat and the flange on the header. its like 2 or 3 mms. Looking into the gap, it does seem to seal with the metal gasket, but is it supposed to be like that? FYI, i have an 06, and we stuck the header on the engine, and then the cat to the exhaust, and then the header to the cat.

I had the same problem it pulls the cat and exhaust a bit closer almost a whole inch.

Watch out that your exhaust doesnt rattle agasint the sway bar.

I had that problem becasue the exhaust cats are connect to the pipe and that wide area where the bolts connect hits the rear sway.

Makesure you don't screw up that air and fuel sensor, for some reason the shop i went to screwed up the threads and over torqued it. Causing it to throw the check engine light and insufficiently perform.

I'm finally going to install my cat. I just need to buy those 2 gaskets, one for each end of the cat, right?

No, the two Napa go between the cat and cat back exhaust.

There is 1 ring gasket for the header.

So it would go like this in my case:

Comptech header--Comptech ring gasket--Random Technology Cat--Napa gasket--Napa gasket--stock exhaust

Is that right?

Looking at the assembly under the car, they vibrate alot at idle. I am wondering if this is normal?? The header doesn't seem to move, but from the flex section back , the cat and the whole cat back vibrate pretty good.

Hey Moda_way, its been 3 weeks and I just got a CEL today, I had the double gasket from Cat. to Cat. Back installed right from the beginning. Its the weekend so I can't get the CEL read. Everything seems normal, the drive, no strange noise or vibrations. I did notice that the exhaust flow has a slight pulsating rythem when coming out of the tips at idle.

What do you think??

I have yet to get a CEL and I've had mine running for over 5k miles now at all types of driving styles.

I would say torque the crap out of the cat to cat-back and verify all your other connections between the header and cat are good. I almost blew an eyeball out getting the cat to cat-back connection tight.

Also make sure your O2 connection is still good, which I doubt anything is at issue there.

As for the pulsating... the exhaust pressure is insanely stronger after the cat, so no diff there with what you are seeing.

Do a reset and see what happens.

Yea took it to my mech and got it scanned, gave a 0420 code, O2 sensor on the cat. triggered it. I then took it to a dealership and same reading. the Acura mech. reved my car a bit and took the A/F ratings and everything fell within the limits. He reset the code and after 35kms so far it hasn;t come back on. Just a freak thing i guess. We'll see with time.

whats a PITA?

And for those who felt vibrations after the install, I think alot of the places that require tighting up of bolts, needs to be really secure. my mech used power tools to do so and I have zero vibrations

PITA = Pain In The A$$ or a flat bread depending upon usage.

So your cat and catback do not vibrate visibly under the car at idle? Also does the header to cat connection have a small gap in between the large house shapped flanges?

I have a vibration only if the A/C is on and I'm not sure if it is my Comptech Quiet Tips or something else.

As for the gap, yes, I do have a gap the width of the 2 NAPA gaskets plus the width of the rolled end on the RT Cat. If I measured it, it would be less than 5mm.

The RT Cat has the floating flangers, so you should be able to turn the cat so that the O2 sensor won't be scraping against the bar.

got my CT header and RT cat installed yesterday. local shop in gillette, nj. Now to break-in the RT cat. Phew! haha. Wanted to do it myself–but, my neck surgery (with muscle spasms) and eagerness to get it done, got the best of me!
