Decrease in WOT sound after cat install...normal???

This past weekend I finally had time to install my Random Technology cat. I took it out for a test drive right after the install and noticed a deeper sounding exhaust note at idle and more torque throughout the power band.

When I got home, I decided to put my Injen CAI back on after removing it for the winter. After I installed my CAI, I took it out for another test drive and noticed my TSX sounded so much sweeter than before. I LOVE my Injen CAI/Comptech Header/Random Tech cat setup!

Other than noticing an improvement in power and sound, I also noticed something else. While accelerating at wide open throttle, I noticed my car isn't as loud between 750-5,000 RPM in every gear than before I installed my cat.

Basically, what I noticed is a decrease in wide open throttle noise at lower RPM's. I remember when I only had my CAI and header, my car used to roar all the way from 1,000 up to fuel cut-off. Now with the cat installed, it only starts to roar at about 4,500-5,000 RPM then to fuel cut-off.

Is this normal after installing the Random Technology cat?

At lower RPM's?

...probably because of your exhaust too.

Yeah, at low RPM, there is a loud growl and it is absolutely b/c of that exhaust.

Most of the time I'm running with my Comptech quiet tips so that I don't make my son go deaf in the back seat.

I was thinking that after installing the cat with intake and headers already on...my car would sound louder regardless if I had aftermarket exhaust or not.

It seems as though the people that installed the cat without an aftermarket exhaust resulted in a quieter TSX.....is that what supposed to happen???

I would expect no change in sound level or just slightly louder. The cat is not a muffler to make it quieter.
