Lightbulb Custom Exhaust

Doing some research on how to go about a custom exhaust. I don't feel like dropping about $800 for a catback is worth it. I was thinking of hunting down a couple of the comptech mufflers (nothing generic) and getting a muffler shop to do 3 inch piping with mandrel bends. I'm considering getting a test pipe and O2 sim I just need to do more research on how that would work. Another member had changed the cat and supposedley got better gains than a CAI so removing it all together should be better. So what else would I need to know about this before I go to my local muffler shop and get the work done? Also does anyone have any advice opinions. 1 last question how does the O2 sim work? All input is appreciated

Well getting mandrel bent exhaust piping is very hard to come by. If you do, you'll end up paying an exhaust shop around $350-400 to do mandrel bends.

Most shops just do crush bent piping. The labor alone will probably end up being around $150.

Actually, it's not as hard as you think. A friend of mine had a custom mandrel bent exhaust made for his Tiburon and it only cost him $300 total, including labor. You just need to find the right shop to get it done at.

i haven't seen any shop around here that does mandrel bending.

most of them just bend it and you get a dink where the bend forms

and 3 inch pipe is enormous. i hope you plan to run forced induction through it b/c your bottom end is gonna suck ass, especially if you have an AT.

Forgot to mention that. You should never exceed 2.5 inch piping on an NA motor.

Have any clips of the sound? I would be interested in hearing this as I might consider a custom exhaust if the sound is right. The TSX does need a little throatier note in the exhaust.

Dual exhuast doesnt work on our car very well due to I4 motor. The pic above is a accord V-6. V style motor are better suited for dual exhuast.
