Unhappy Console - Carbon Fiber 06 TSX replacement on 05 TSX

Has anyone ever replaced their console components on their 2004 or 2005 TSX with the console components from the 2006 TSX?

Specifically, I am talking about the console tray, cup assembly, and the two compartments and doors. I thinking of swapping them the current black plastic on my 2005 with the 2006 carbon fiber.

Basically, they look identical as far a design, BUT the 2006 six model console is made of carbon fiber and looks alot better.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Really....the dealership said it was carbon fiber.....I was skeptical of that but I took their word for it. They said they can try to install but it may not fit....something to do with an inner bracket - not 100%.

BTW, since you have a lovely 2006 for which I should've waited for......do you have any problems with your center console as far as discoloration on the compartment doors? On mine, they got oily black from where my hands touch so it looks like a darker black on the already black plastic. Also, the current black plastic scrathes easiliy. It appears the new material they used is more durable and doesnt scratch as easily.

Thanks,
ChimChim

lol...it's not carbon fiber...it kinda looks like it as far as the pattern goes...
if you're talking about the 2 compartment doors...mine still leaves smudge/finger prints when i push on it...my '04 did the same...its plastic so it will do that...i just wipe it down with a damp micro-fiber towel when i clean my interior...i can take pics of the material if you want so you can see that it's not carbon fiber...but i have to wait till i get my car back from the dealer..

How much do they want to charge for this?
If it's too much, just get one of the carbon fiber dash kits. They are like carbon fiber stickers that cover the existing components. It's not true carbon fiber, but it will give you the look you want for a good price.

Thanks - yes, if you can post some pics that would be good. I wasnt worried too much about the smudges b/c you're right I just wipe clean with microfiber cloth... BUT in my case, the doors have become discolored from the repeated open/closes....I figure the new material would be more durable.

Thanks again,
ChimChim

The dealer didnt give me a price, but they will probably cut me a deal....we'll see. I can get all the parts for approx $333.00 (online price). However....I didnt know they made a carbon fiber look kit....I've see the metal and wood trim (not feeling it), but I am very interested in the kit you mentioned. Do you know where I can buy this kit?

Thanks,

Drigo-

Thanks - nice site. I found some other ones, but this site has a decent selection. Have you ordered from them before? After reviewing the colors....I like the RCF and the SCF.

Thanks,

i haven't ordered yet..i'm still curious on the fitment..but..as i mentioned before..if i got it..i would only get the 2 compartment doors, the center area where the cupholders are..that whole area and the area where the window buttons are(front&rear)so if i got those pieces..fitment shouldn't be a huge factor...

Why spend money on something like this? I have an '06 and it is nothing more than plastic - with a faint carbon look pattern ------and I mean faint. It smudges and is clearly plastic.

Put your 3 bills towards something that matters........that's half of a hondata reflash....anyway, just my

I DID IT! When I bought my 05 TSX, one of the center console panels was sqeeking, so I asked to have it replaced. After I picked it up, I realized that they replaced one of the center console pieces with the 2006 pieces. So I have an all black interior, with one carbon fiber looking piece.

In my avator to the left of this text, you can see the interior of my 05 TSX. The center console is black, but my console door that is just below my climate controls is from an 06 TSX. (It's the carbon fiber)

You can see how small of a difference the interior really is, just not as dark.

The CM7 Accord V6 6 Speed "Red Badge" cars came standard with a Carbon Fiber Center Console Trim Kit. It was also "Optional" at some Honda dealerships to put it on the K24 5 Speed cars. Seen it, wanted it and drooled over it. Looks very good. Would love to do something like that one the TSX. But not going to by a full CF Trim Kit just for the Center Console Kit.

there's a guy on this forum, he drives a white TL and he takes your original parts, and basically coats them with real CF.. his name is JPTL04, he sold some of his work on a different forum I use.. here's the link to his work.. https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-photograph-gallery-96/quest-cleanest-modded-tl-s-continues-new-mods-v1-install-4-28-a-731127/ https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-photograph-gallery-96/morrissey25s-upcoming-carbon-fiber-mods-844375/
