Can anyone provide me with a link to where i can buy the Comptech Short Shift kit.? I have searched the forum but have not found any links.
Comptech's page is under construction, and TSXparts.com only has the neuspeed one.

i cant get the center console out.
I took off the shift knob, and no matter how hard i pull, nothing will budge.
anyone have any suggestions? ive searched, and found helpful hints and tricks for other aspects of the install, but nothing about this.
I was pulling hard and nothing was happening.

1. pop open the not a ashtray cover
2. heat the console with a hair dryer
3. push in with your fingers on the dip in the front of the center console (where it meets the not an ashtray spot)

Should come up, the rest is just sliding your hands along the side and gently pulling up.

Or you take pliers with rubber ended handles, open them up then put one end of the handle in that gap where the console goes behind the e-brake handle, then use the metal part of the pliers (what you'd used to pry things apart) and press it on the seat for a pivot, then with the other handle (which should be aimed towards the driver side door) push down towards the seat gently and pop it that way.

The way i did it was with the rubber ended pliers. Just stick them right into e-brake area. and push and push and you'll hear a pop. and that means success just dont try too hard, or else you'll break the clip things. Also, you can open your cupholder and push on the side (towards the passenger seat) while pulling up simultaneously while pullup on the ebrake part too.

Ignore the picture that tells you to pull from the front of the console. That is never going to work (at least it didn't for me). You want to stick with your pliers. Wrap the plier handle in a t-shirt or something to stop it scratching your interior. Since you said you managed to get one clip up, continue to work around the edge of the console with the plier handle and pop up more clips. Once you have enough that you can get your fingers in and slowly and evenly pull the console up. As far as the cup-holder side, that is a little bit of a pain in the ass, basically what I did was get my hand under it from the left hand side and then just pull.

Hope that helps, this was a tricky install.

Im gonna give it another try tonight.
i pulled at it so hard last night i think i pulled a muscle in my arm. i dont understand how it could be on there so tight.

the plier method worked good to get that one clip off, but it seems i cant proceed from there. there isnt really anyhing to grip.

i feel like getting drunk, smashing the thing with a hammer and then jsut replaceing it.

I say go for it! If there isn't a civil way to fix it, at least you are able to get some anger out!

there are actually two clips in the back that you will want to pop out. Use the same method near the ebrake. basically just work from the back to the front.

i popped the one clip near the ebrake out. so basically the back corner near the ebrake handle is loose.

i need to pop the other clip in the back (by the cupholder) How do i pop this clip out? there is nothing on that side to use as leverage with the pliers like the other side, and i cant really get a grip on it.

this is sooooo annoying, i just want my ss kit installed already damn it!
who is in north jersey that has done the install? anyone? ill supply the beer.

I just recently wen through that whole ordeal to install my Dice iPod link thingy. I was super worried about breaking things so what I did was take out the two storage things first.

The upper one is held in by the same type of clips as the piece you're trying to remove. Just put your hands in there flat against the sides and yank out. Mine popped out pretty easily.

Next there are 4 screws that hold in the "not an ashtray" compartment. There's no yanking required once the screws are out.

Once you have those out of the way you can get your hand under the front of the center console piece you're trying to remove. Pop the front two clips out and work your way back. I used to a screw driver wrapped in tape to pry it out working my way back.

Some of those clips are tight as hell. You need to yank like a sumabitch. Just try not bend the plastic piece too much, it's quite flimsy.

wooooooooooooo hoooo i got the console off, although im missing some of those metal clips.

Question: what is thie piece? i found it just kind of laying on the carpet after i took the console out.
Where does it go? lol
Also, how much locktite should i put in the end of the Short shifter? should i be putting it on the screws or just squeeze the whole thing into there?

LOL! I have no clue what that white peice is, but it looks like part of the clip is broken. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I found a couple screws and metal clips on the floor after my installation too...i just left them out. good job

That is the only piece that didnt go back on the car, whatever. It doesnt seem to be anything that important.
What an S.o.b that install was. Way worth the hassle tho.

It looks like it belongs on the cup holder mechanism to make it open and close.

Ha! I also found this white piece when I was installing the short shifter! LOL!!!
I also couldn't figure out where it went and just threw it out.
Everything seems to work just fine without it.
