Comptech manufacturing

Hey guys,

So as some know, I ordered the comptech sway bar off Ebay. I got an email from Acura of Lynwood (the people I ordered it from) today saying that they have to refund my money due to a "missmanufacturing" of the sway bar by Comptech. Apparently Acura of Lynwood sold more sway bars than they had in stock and comptech didn't make enough. So now i need to get the sway bar somewhere else. I've waited 3 F'n weeks for this bar, now i'm getting nothing. sucks...

This make sense to any of you?

Also, if anyone can hook me up with a good place to get the sway bar, i'd appreciated it. Can anyone get comptech stuff?

So how is not having one in stock "mis manufacturing"? They oversold and are trying to blame the manufacturer?

BTW I just did an e-bay search a few days ago and couldn't find any either.

Thats what i was thinking, they just sold more than they had. Probably hoped I would just forget about about it or something. There EBay review was 100% positive though, WTF?

Are you talking about Acura of Lynwood? I didn't get anything either until I inquired myself. You may want to send them an e-mail.

I know, but i've heard raves from dozens of members about the comptech being the best things since sliced bread.

I've only heard about 2 or 3 people that like the progress. Although i've heard nothing bad.

The Progress comes with poly bushing and adjustable end-link mounting points. Do you want to buy my Comptech so I can try something different? I'm always into trying something new.

I don't know if it's better or not. But I do like the features, that I'm willing to give it a try if the opportunity comes up.

You know, I'm gonna go with the progress. I just did some reading and it seems its equal if not better than the comptech. Its a bit more money (about $50) but that price gives you poly bushings and stiffness adjustment.

I was thinking about the progress but went with the comptech to be safe, but I think this whole thing is a sign that I should go with the progress.

Thanks for reminding me about PSB jtso

I sent an e-mail to Comptech re: the problem to voice my concern and disapprovement. Maybe they will give a discount, or throw in a short shifter

If they do nothing...Progress here I come

Thumbs up Spoke to Comptech this afternoon

FYI - I live about 12 miles from Comptech's facilities in El Dorado Hills. I've been talking to them about buying & installing their SB in my NHB '04 TSX AT 9.5km. They have about 50+ SB's on backorder and received their shipment this last Friday. Now the bad news. Thier engineer in charge of the SB product inspected this shipment for compliance to their spec. & standards and subsequently rejected the lot. On the plus side they said the powder coat looks great but SOL on filling any orders. 3+/- weeks out on the next shipment and yes they're working on the current "spec" problem. BTW - I'm trying to get them to figure out a way to a fix a "Comptech" ID/Label. They said they'd kick it around. Also what's been posted about no SC for the TSX auto is not true. They work on the 6pd first because that's what Acura gives them first and that's where most of the Mod market is. And yes they understand that 85%+/- of the TSX's are AT and the diff between the two tranys is more than easily addressed - SC wise. No further info as to the whens & hows.

P.S. - Now for those of you who think this is company BS or smoke. The answer 1st is no I don't work for Comptech and 2nd yes they seam to be really into what they do and as I found out are very approachable. Although I don't post very often I've been ready this site almost daily for about 1 year. A big thumbs-up to those who work sooooooo hard on keeping it up & current.

Hope this helps... Sorry it's so long!

Damnit! I ordered my RSB from AofE 3 weeks ago. They told me the ETA was 4/27. Now, it'll probably be another 3 weeks.

BTW what exactly was the "current spec problem"? Was there an issue with their current design that they had to fix? Or was it just a manufacturing defect w/ the most recently rejected batch?

The latter... The SB's were out of spec.

Hmm....That's good news! A SC for the 5AT would be tight

I probably live like an hour form El Dorado Hills, I should go to Comptech sometime too.
Maybe I'll go there and pick up some headers.

Glad to be of help.

In my conversations with the folks at Comptech, I got the impression that they were concerned about their reputation and special relationship with Acura. When it comes to modifying any auto from stock to whatever, safety and performance should always trump style & looks. Getting owned by a turdmobil is still getting owned. IMHO

What the hey... I had a new '76 SAAB 99GL when everyone thought they were ugly. I loved that car. Put over 250kmi. on her original engine. I did get to drive one of the 1st SAAB turbos which BTW you could turn the boost up to "Blow-up Max." Scarrrrrrryyyy Fast!!! Scared many a hippy in Berkeley in that one.

Enjoy your ride. It truly is a sweet, sweet car.
