Comptech or Hawk pads for my brake upgrade?

Probably gonna go with Powerslot rotors front and rear and the Comptech stainless line kit.

Should i go with the Comptech Metal Master pads or Hawk HPS or Hawk Performance Ceramic?

My car is a daily driver and i'm a fairly normal driver although i do some spirited driving on occasion. No track use whatsoever...

My , I'd go with Hawk Ceramic. I think they're even lower dust than the OEM. Non-ceramic pads, I think, will dust quite a bit. For everyday driving, even spirited, I would think the better braking with non-ceramic wouldn't justify the heavier dust.

I still have my OEM's on, though, so that's just conjecture.

Go to Stillen.com and buy their stainless steel lines. They're all Goodridge lines, so you might as well get them at a better price. As far as pads go, I got the Ceramic Matrix ones from Stillen too and they are a bit dirty, but the stopping is fantastic. I've used the Metal Master pads before and they are great too and as I recall, they chewed through the rotors and a little more fading than Ceramic pads.

Thanks for the heads up on the ss lines. I'm split between the Hawk ceramics and the HPS now. I had the HPS on my old 240sx and liked them so i may as well go with them again.

There are some fairly good write-ups here on doing the brake job on the TSX. I seriously recommend a brake flush too (since you'll have the lines off you'll probably be doing it anyway). Honda/Acura fluid seems to get dirty quickly in specific conditions.

As an FYI, I know Motul works and other has DOT 4 stuff in their systems, I don't think our system is specified for DOT 5.1 which is what Motul is. Just be careful because I'm not sure how the seals and such will handle that formulation. The DOT 3 Acura fluid is plenty good. Basically, if you do run into leaking seals or something, I doubt Acura would warranty it b/c of the fluid change. Motul is great stuff, but you might want to put it in after warranty is up.

If you don't autox or track your TSX, you will NOT need Motul.

Motul may ruin your ABS modulator, so if you do use Motul, disable the ABS by pulling the fuse out.

My .

How long can I expect Hawk Ceramic or Hawk HPS pads to last as compared to the OEM pads?

The only thing that's stopped me from ordering the Hawk Ceramic pads is online reviews I've read that say they dust just as much as the HPS do. I'm really in the market for a low-dust pad. Can anyone say otherwise about the Hawk Ceramic or point to another good brand for low dust, every day driving pads?

Will pulling the fuse disable anything else??? Besides the ABS brake setup? I for one got the Hawk HPS pads and am putting them on with rotoras

By pulling fuse 18 under the dash, you will disable both VSA and ABS.

Please don't forget VSA and ABS are critical safety features.

i dont know how bad hawk ceramic pads are for every day driving, but during my road trip from Seattle to my last dest. which was San Diego (aprrox. 1000 miles), the ceramic pads dust as much as OEMs and they dont have much improvement in term of braking bite compared to OEMs. Oh one more thing, Usually the rear wheels have more dust but now the front wheels have more dust. I'll post a few pics soon.
