Comptech Closing ?
^ good input ... i'm sure someone could figure out a way to cut a couple corners and make a profit. it's a sad day for honda heads, now we'll have to out source to japan if we want parts from a dedicated brand tuner, but mugen is waaaay too expensive imo. comptech's closing, maybe, in another weird twist of fate, hondata will come out with a reflash for the 05 auto!
yeah i tried calling too to inquire about parts. i never got a call back. either i'm in a really long queue or maybe they just don't care since i just want one specific item. supposedly there is only 1 sales guy handling all the calls, so that could be another reason why we can't get a warm body on the line.

So much for ever seeing an S/C for my 06 Auto, unless someone has found a way to make it work
The other reason this blows is that I was told as long as we use CompTech parts and "have an Acura Dealership do the work"(yeah right), it would all be covered under warranty and wouldn't void our factory warranties....

Wow this is really a sad day for me. I just got started modding my tsx and I was really really looking forward to getting some comptech headers and a catback.... This sucks!
WHY OH WHY PLEASE NOT COMPTECH!!!

WHY OH WHY PLEASE NOT COMPTECH!!!

Damn, even though I was never interested in Comptech products, they are probably one of the US companies which I would trust. I just read through ALOT of modified cars articles and many of them spot COmptech parts!
What's up with the Honda Tuning world?? First Phase (specialized in NSX and TSX(Euro R)) and now Comptech?? It's truly sad to see such a big name go down like that

Same here, I had in the back of my mind that I could supercharge my TSX if I ever decided to. Sad to see a leader and long-time Honda tuning supplier like Comptech disintegrate. As has been mentioned before, it's hard to imagine the brand equity in a name like "Comptech" just disappearing. I can't imagine someone re-opening the business under a different name unless they have to due to ownership politics.
There seems to be demand for their products and services, that demand will be met by someone.

Too bad they pidgeon holed themselves to just Honda/Acura.

CCC doesn't care for things like A/C, dashboard gauges, etc. The car sits most of the time.

Especially for the Stage 2 kit they're planning (w/ the FMIC), that would require larger fuel injectors, and correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't that one of the issues that developers were having with their S/C kits?
With the Comptech S/C, I thought they were using modified stock fuel injectors, so if Red Shift can get passed that, I'll be pretty surprised.
As far as a ECU reflash, I thought that Hondata was going to take care of that. However, I don't think they can work on the reflash until the S/C kit is properly fitted, meaning the wait could be quite a bit longer than we all hope

They are selling desks, machines, inventory, furniture. etc. I talked to my sales rep today and this is what he told me. On Friday they were forced to let 12 people go. The company has been in trouble the last 2 years due to declining sales. The people seem to want high quality performance mods but at discount prices. Because other people do alot of the actual manufacturing of their parts they have move overhead and expense then you might think. Also becuase of this trouble alot less parts were in stock which led to long shipping delays. They are still open for the time being. They have a skeleton crew there to fill orders which are in stock. If the part is not in stock then your money will be refunded along with a note stating why. Don't get your hopes up guys - they are not giving the stiff away. I might be making them an offer to buy the TL exhaust inventory - if the price is right.
If you currently have a supercharger on your car your not totally out of luck. The blower is made by Paxon. You should be able to get parts for them from the manufacture. You might even see Paxon sell the supercharger kit under their brand name. I belive Comptech has lost alot of back end money that they were making on the racing end. I belive they were at one time prepping Honda race engines (maybe even CART engines). They will be open untill ends are tied up. I don't belive any new orders are being taken. If I do purchase a part of the inventory I will post a thread. Losing Comptech is a huge blow to Honda and Acura tuning. There are not many companies that produce high quality items for our cars. Was there stuff expensive yes. Is there stuff out there as good - not much. I feel the price of Comptech items will go through the roof once they are closed (ala Mugen). You will not realize how good you had it untill its gone.

I still can't beleive a company with the brand name like comptech is closing. Someone has fuc#%#%# up big time there! It's to bad somebody with more business sense didn't step in years ago and straighten out what has been going down hill for years... This is really sad and again I am in awe that a company with a brand name like comptech is just liquidating and selling off desks/inventory/computers etc.... what a complete failure of the basic fundamentals

I hope Hondata has figured this out. This would be a big development for the TSX community. With Comptech leaving, if these guys don't step up there will be no more SC kits for the TSX. And I would really like to see what 7 psi and a 7600 RPM Rev limit feels like. I miss reving up that high.
Since comptech is closing, how about for the people who already have S/C from them? Will their warranty transfer to Honda/Acura or something just in case something goes wrong with their S/C? Also, I wonder where you could get replacement parts.

Secondly, I'm not sure about the TL blower, but the CT S/C for the TSX is made by Eaton, specifically the Eaton M62, not Paxton. You can check the Comptech website to confirm this fact. Apparently, this is the same blower that MB uses in their C-class "Kompressor" cars.
I personally plan on calling up Eaton to see if they have replacement parts for the M62. I don't see why they wouldn't...

Four words: Shit out of luck
Seeing how much of ripple this is causing in the honda/acura community, and considering how the whole staff was bascially let go, I wouldn't be surprised if someone or some entity picks up where comptech left off. Maybe some of them will regroup and form another company.
