now where would you get support and do you lose your warranty on parts you have from them?
Also does any place other than Comptech itself do the reflash? Do the dealers have the programming tools? I wanted to do the reflash next yeah when my warranty expires...

And yes, "not enough management" is a very strange reason to give for closing.

somone in the TL thread said only springs and short shifters are left? wtf. i hope that's a joke.
i just emailed them to see if it's true. i had asked a few weeks ago about the fitment of the icebox for the 07's. hoping they'll answer and shed some light as to whether there will be a firesale.

All I have to say is wow. I had no idea they were closing. My rep never told me. And that isn't why I was liquidating the S/C kits. I was doing it b/c I moved locations and I need some $ for the new location.
I can tell you guys that a few months back Comptech told me that they were not making enough money and therefore they cut distributor discounts a decent amount. I was a distributor, but a smaller one. Their 3-4 main distributors were pissed, like myself, and one stopped doing business with them. I had always thought that they were making up stories saying they weren't making enough money but apparently the partners who had money invested in the company didn't see the return they wanted and they pulled their funds, at least according to what I was told from a Comptech employee when I just called right now. But although their customer service on the retail end was good their customer service on the wholesale end wasn't. I never got a response back to emails, never had phone calls returned (unless it was to charge my CC), and never was kept updated. The product was great but I guess in the end it wasn't enough. This really sucks b/c they did make a great product.

excelerate--do you actually have the iceboxes for the TSX in stock, or do you order it from comptech and it's directly sent to the buyer?
i guess i'm wondering...should i buy it now in fear that there won't be any more available?

Man this doesn't make sense to me... They've been around for a long time, and have a very loyal following? How could they just allow themselves to close? Something doesn't make sense to me....
When there is a company with such a strong brand name like "comptech", usually there are several people/companies that would jump at the oppurtunity to buy them, and continue to make/sell comptech parts, as they have a VERY established name....
I really can't beleive there just disappearing, doesn't make any sense... regardless of how poor they were being managed/run, companies don't just vanish into thin air like this, at least legit companies

i just called. they are, indeed, closing. the sales guy, however, was tied up on the line so he couldn't tell me if any of the items in stock would be sold at a discount. they're trying to pay off their vendors so i guess it depends on how quickly they want to move the items.

Well Comptech isn't closed as of yet. They will be open for a couple months at least, according to them. The sales rep is hoping it will be a temporary thing but what has happened is the bigwigs at the top aren't coming to an agreement and this is where it stands as of now.
Wow! This is news to me. I haven't talked to those guys for quite awhile. But I do know that a couple of their long time employees left awhile ago. I'm going to try to call and talk to one of the guys I know there pretty well to get the scoop. Dang.
It kinda doesn't surprise me that they weren't making much money. I've heard many stories of them going above and beyond and covering costs for customer parts/installs/towing whenever people ran into problems. They had great customer service, but I'm sure it cut into their bottom line. They would even give me free services whenever I would come in. They would really go above and beyond.
This sucks for the Honda/Acura fans though because this is one of the few companies that I really trusted. They put a lot of time and care into everything that they made, and everything was hand welded. There's just not as many companies out there with such good quality control anymore.

And you know what? This really blows b/c Comptech was the only company who paid attention to the CL/TL guys this extensively, and forced others to do more.
And as much as it would be nice now for the "other" company to make up a S/C kit don't hold your breath. These aren't even my words. Out of the mouth of someone who is tied in closely with their kit make sure you see pre and post dynos and an actual finished, running product before you commit to buying.

I've heard many of the same stores, and I know out on Club RSX, they really were taking care of everyone too. This really sucks for all Cali people who want an SC. The Comptech SC is the only CARB legal SC kit ever made for the TSX. I'm glad that I already have my CARB legal sticker under the hood.

I hope the people at the top of the ladder are able to figure things out and keep Comptech thriving.

Oh well, proof that a quality supplier doesn't always stay on top. I gotta say, their product and Excelerate made it an easy decision to use their products. The only issue I ever had with their product was one of the resonantor cans had a loose baffle in it. They gave me a new one and ZERO issues since.
This sux!!
