Cold Air Intake - Noise

Well, the goup buy for the Injen CAI is up. $250 or $255 for a polished two piece.

My only remaining question is...how loud will it be. I don't want to destroy the "quietness" of the TSX engine unless I'm WOT then I don't care.

Is it going to sound like a fart-can exhaust equipped rice mobile?

Not that I plan to come into the group buy as $250 or $255 will be about $360.00 CAD + border fees and shipping we're looking at $400.00 CAD or more. I'd rather wait til its in stores here.

But I'm wondering what the difference is between the $250 CAI and the $255 CAI. I thought the Black was'nt yet available?

The price isn't $250 AND $255. I just couldn't remember which one it was and was too lazy to look it up. It's "around" $250.

I have my resonator off and it isn't much louder at all. There is definitely a growl there, but it isn't that bad. With a true CAI, I would say it would be loud if the filter is in the engine bay area and not in the resonator area. Otherwise, if the filter on the CAI is in the resonator gap, then you'll probably be fine with the additional noise.

yea i agree with moda_way. there is a good growl when accelerating. nothing too loud. i just helped my friend install his intake for his e36 m3 and that thing sounds pretty good (bigger engine = yummier sound).

with experiences from friends integras and civics with injen intake, 4bangers do not get too loud. it is a healthy sound that i like when accelerating though. if the sound is not what you want you may want to opt for the comptech icebox. of course i have not heard the injen on the TSX but i cannot say anything for certain right now, but compared to other cars it is not too loud

The I6 in the 3 series is one sweet sounding engine.

I'm guessing you were asking if the CAI can be installed by yourself.

The answer is yes.

The hard part is removing the stock resonator assembly. This involved removing the bumper for me...hardest part. After that it comes right out.

However, I would strongly suggest that you get a Helm Service Manual (or a copy of the appropriate pages) to locate all the screws and the procedure to remove the items. Otherwise it could be very frustrating.

ops thats what i meant; install by yourself without help from pros. I didn't even notice my spelling mistakes lol

If I take it to a dealer for them to install, how much would it cost?

if you go on injen's website you can watch videos of cars installed with their CAI. one of the cars you can watch-hear is a RSX which should give you a good idea of how it will sound.
