Changed out my cubby light

Now it is red and I am almost done with my interior lighting scheme. The bulb is a 74 type LED from superbrightleds.com. A little modification is needed for the bulb to fit tight and not fall out. Some dremel work is needed as well. The dremel work is for opening a hole so the light can really shine. No need for a DYI its a no-brainer..

And a teaser pic from my photoshoot coming soon.

Thanks rex. I have been wanting to do this and some other leds mods I just got done, but I still need to do the ones on the door releases. I will have a photoshoot thread soon with pics of all the mods I have been doing. I am still waiting on some other stuff to come in. Nothing big but just some small details I have wanted for a while now.

Nice work, can't wait to see the finished product. I tried changing out the cubby light with an LED, but I never thought of dremeling out a hole for the light to show brighter.

Its nice and bright, but maybe if the lights under the foot rest where red too. Then everything will flow. Other then that, its pretty cool.

Thanks. Well I wanted to have cubby different since everything else is blue. I think it is cool since it gives it a sense of contrast. I also had to rig up 3 1 LED bulbs for the doors and trunk so all the LEDs would match. I will be doing the door releases in blue as well.

Thanks. I like the blue, but the cubby was never blue it was like a yellowish green so I decided to do it another color so I can have a little contrast.

How did you remove the oem bulb that was there because I tried removing mine about 2-3 weeks ago and I had a problem taking it off? I don't know if I missed something or what. I was actually planning to do the exact same thing there and also in the glove compartment. Well hopefully you can tell me how you took off that stubborn bulb thanks.

If you want to remove the socket the bulb fits in you have to twist it counterclockwise then it should come out by itself.

To take out the bulb all you have to do is pull it strait out that is for the bulb only.

Well done, but that red just doesn't work for me. Think you should've stuck with blue or went white.

TSX420J which one did you get from superbrightleds the twist type or did you just purchase the bulb to replace?

does the TSX have a light in the cubby hole to begin with? or this is something you've added?

I figured out how to do all except the one right under the radio. If I knew how, my car would have all UV lighting but since I couldnt figure that one out I switched all my UV leds for blue. The best part was finding out the blue leds I had bought did not match the rest of the blue lights I had. So, I rigged my own LED door lights.

This is why I said you have to twist the light then pull out, but it should come out by itself

here are some pics of the housing that I modified with the dremel.

I also added some aluminum foil to reflect the light a little more.
