CF hood on CG?
CF hood on CG?
I'd like to get some input whether if I should get CF hood for my CG.
Please remember that I'm doing this for the performance. I know that with a lighter hood I can lower my center of gravity up front and also with a better front to rear weight distribution. At about $350 (US made, VIS probably) it's not exactly expensive or cheap either, so I'm debating if I should get one and will it really help slimming my TSX down or the CF hood isn't that much lighter than stock anyways.
Also how would it look? Inputs?

Besides, I believe the VIS hood has a fiberglass underlay, which will be lighter than stock, but not a whole lot lighter. Not like a true CF hood anyways.
Seach for TSXondubs ride. He has CG with a CF hood.

You actually do dzuy. The total mass of the hood will be replaced with a lighter ones giving you less weight up top. As a result your CG (only the front part of the car) would be lower than with the stock hood on. Just as an example, M3 CSL has a carbon roof to give a less weight up top; therefore, a lower CG when compared to M3s.
If you replace your hood with a lighter one, wouldn't that mean there is less weight in the front of the car?
Now...wouldn't that mean the car's springs/shocks are less compressed because of the lightened weight...
Thus raising your car a bit because of the the decreased weight and actually giving you a higher center of gravity...

We are only talking about maybe saving 25lbs, so the shocks are not going to de-compress that much, however if you did get a hood and did a battery relocation to the trunk you could drop 60lb's off the front which would help in corrning. It would not nessarly help with overall accelration but every lb counts.

ok. you can get a cf hood, but i'm telling you that you wont see any real performance
and i dont really agree with your logic about lowering the center of gravity.
if you want to lower your center of gravity - lower your car.
saving a few lbs on the hood isnt going to yeild any real gains.
you can take that to the bank

Now of course this isn't as effective as lowering the car (which physically lowers ALL points of the car), but it does help. Plus we all know that this car needs to lose some weight in general...
Now, a CF hood on a CG is
but that's just an opinion...

Ya man....... Duzy is the man.... he's a respected memebr.....should listen to him....hahaha

Saving a few lbs won't improve performance that much.....if you have a whole list of mods.....then a CF hood would be great,,,,,
But if you expect performance form just a CF hood n stock TSX>.....then......hahhaa......good luck~

Xizor...is that your ride? If so where did you get the hood? It doesn't need the oem chrome or body paint piece. Thats the hood I am looking for!!!
