carbon fiber hood/trunk on black tsx..

i'm thinking i would benefit from lightening up my car, im wondering though, if i put a carbon fiber hood and maybe a carbon fiber trunk on my TSX, would it look dumb since my tsx is black? and would it make much of a difference?

I don't think it would look the best, but if you got the hood and trunk, it would look better than just the hood. CF stuff just doesn't work well with a black car.

It's all in the eye of the beholder. If you like it then do it. It will lighten the vehicle up some, maybe 50 lbs.

50 pounds is not much, but a decent amount of weight especially for where its located. it'll lower the center of gravity a teensy bit, but I don't think the changes would be noticable.

That being said, I would rather have lightweight rims for better acceleration, deceleration, and handling.

why would lightweight rims take off that much? wouldnt they only be like a total of 20lbs or so?

Because rims are unsprung weight (i.e. not supported by the suspension).

lighter rims = more power to the wheels

carbon fiber hood/trunk is purely aesthetic because shaving off 50 or w/e pounds isnt going to help much with your 1/4 mile time,

Does anybody have any pictures of a NHBP TSX with Carbon-fiber trunk/hood........???? Im having a hard time picturing it. Maybe if you matched the carbon fiber with rims that are the same color it wouldnt look that bad???? What does everyone think?????

right... The wheels would be a larger help.

Unless you are going for serious weight reduction. Adding CF hood and trunk isn't really going to do much.

If you want to lose 50lbs... go on a diet You will get the same effect and you will be healthier to boot.... or take out your spare tire.

95% of people that get CF hoods say it is for weight reduction but it is really for looks.

I prefer painted CF hoods

I think that looks decent. Of course on black you wont notice it as much..

But you also wont get people saying you need to paint your hood.

Hey.. your kind of local btw !

I think a Carbon Fiber hood will only look good on a white or silver tsx. Thats just me though. Give it a try and we will see.

Rims take off more weight as each pound of rotating weight shed equates to 8lbs of weight off the car. Thus if you shave 20lbs of wheel weight, you shave 160 off the car in terms of accelration. At least that is what I have been told.
