Grade A? I don't think that means anything. Something tells me a $200 CF hood is going to be pretty crappy. Just be sure to check out the latch quality and ask if they have pics of one installed on a car to check the gaps.

Dan, who will only be selling grade A+ shift knobs.

Most cheap CF hoods require hood pins and their edges are straight cut not filleted. If it is str8 cut, the edge will look like it's literally been cut with a band saw. A filleted edge is basically rolled down at the edge about 1/4". The filleted edge means the hood is stronger and the company took more time with their product and have a better manufacturing process.

I'd go Fiber Images or VIS...

A guy in my local area is thinking about selling his used VIS carbon fiber hood for his TSX. I imagine its been used for about a yr, and is probably in perfect shape still. I'm wondering, what should these hoods sell for new on the TSX? (I've seen a wide range of prices, just wondering what the avg. good price would be) And approximately how much should I be paying for a used one?

i wouldn't buy a cf hood for 200. too cheap imo.

i almost bought the phase cf hood a long time ago - but decided my car would look better all white with gold.

i probably would have gotten it if i had gunmetal or bronze wheels tho.

vis is probably your best bet.

you should have a custom carbon fiber hood made with golf tinted resin so that it would match the volks now that would be hot

Dzuy, I agree completely. I saw your car pics, and IMO it would look terrible with a carbon fiber hood... But if you ever switch your rims to gun metal IT would look amzing... I love your car how it is though, very impressive (people should learn from you)...

$450-600, shipping is usually a lot for it too

Ok well he wants $500 CAD, which is about $400 USD for his used one. But he lives very local to me, so I could pick it up and could avoid the extreme shipping costs. Especially considering i'm in canada, to ship a hood from Cali to me is fairly outrageous.

I just found a new CF hood for $99 plus $175 shipping from Cali. Has anyone heard of this cheap CF hood? It only comes with the latch. Anyone know anything about these cheap hoods?

dont cheap out on a carbon fiber hood if you are showing CJams. You will regret it if you waste your money. buy a VIS or a TCSportline hood. Also if you are showing dont cheap out on your hood pins and dont get sparco ones. Get these http://hoodpins.com/order.html . They are expensive but they are the best. The guy that makes them right near me. I am getting a set this weekend. I am getting the poslished ones.

Note taken! Thanks!

So the CF hoods require these pins? They don't just bolt on like a normal hood? What would the difference in hoods be other than that? The look? Thickness? Fitment? Has anyone seen a cheap CF hood in person? The pic showed it as looking a little more brown than the normal CF hoods and stuff i've seen before.

Thoughts on this hood:
http://www.slickcar.com/productdetai...ProductID=3497

This VIS hood is about $455 but there is no picture:
http://www.kidimports.com/products.asp?pid=18687

Anybody know what the stock hood weights?

The first one doesn't look like the 1 in the picture. That hood looks like it's for a civic.

they bolt on just like th factory hood yes. they also have a factory hood latch. however being that carbon fiber hood are lighter when wind gets under them the sides tend to flap and cound eventually lead to the hood braking. all manufactures recomened using hood pins because carbon fiber hood are not as rigid as the factory metal hood and so they flex more. you only need them on the front the back hook to the factory brackets. I am getting them cause at 80mph on the highway my hood has lift to it which is a bad thing. so I just recommend getting them and the ones i linked to at http://www.hoodpins.com are the nicest you will ever find. I am getting the polished ones and I think they would look good on your car.

Am I the only one who thinks a cf hood will actually look good on a white car with gold wheels???? I'm thinking about getting cf hood and trunk for my Prelude recently since they are now legal in the class I run in. And my car is white on gold wheels (well, different shade of gold than dzuy's).

I bet no one can find a picture of any Honda with an aftermarket CF hood that has been painted to match the body.

Our hood is already aluminum, so don't expect to save much weight. If anything, CF fenders/door panels would provide much more performance benefit.

There is, but just not the entire hood. Do a search on Cannonball (however it's spelled). He has his CF hood (only the sides) painted to match his car's color.

Our hood isn't aluminum. If it's aluminum, my magnetic decal would've flew off during my first auto-x in the TSX back in 2003.
