Can't get ECU out for Hondata

How did you guys disconnect the 4 wire plugs from the ECU and slide it out?? It's like impossible. I know about the tab in the middle but I just can't seem to get a good grip to pull the plugs out. Any tips on removing the ECU?

I just did this last week. Disconnect the harness from the ECU, while the ECU is still mounted - better leverage. Push the clip down and pull...they will come out. You can pull on the wires, but you don't have to be rough. Also, it is a tight fit to get the ECU out, but it will go!

I found the hardest part was maneuvering the lower steering column shroud out of the way to remove the immobilizer.

Good Luck!

Yeah, unplug the harnesses while the ECU is still bolted in. There are tabs holding the harnesses in I believe.

i think someone in another thread said they called hondata and they advised not to swap the 06/07 ecu's. so maybe it's more than just the addition of the TPMS?

So how long did it take to remove and re-install? The shop is willing to do it for $80, should I go with that option?

Absolutely, just pay them the money already.

Took maybe a little over an hour to remove and re-install? $80 seems expensive to do this. Make sure you have a good philips screwdriver when taking out the immobilizer.
