Cams

Ive been searching for ways to open up my engine for air and it does not seem to be any discussion on cams . I reasearched a couple of sights and they do sell them for the K24A2, is it that this is just not reliable in our vics or is the gain minimal for the price . Thanks

issue is tuning for those cams. Only Hondata has a way to tune and they are not doing tuning for specific cam setups yet. That's the issue, ECU tuning, not parts.

Like moda_way said, its lack of tuning but hytech has cams and you can buy them from one of our site vendors

I believe they use RSX ECU + TSX ECU to tune... a hybrid setup?

It's my understanding that there's a reflash available for stage 1, which includes the cams and full exhaust setup:

Nono, only a reflash. Kpro is for extra credit

Correct, but again, that is for a specific cam setup. I was talking more in general. Thanks for the clarification.

wouldn´t aftermarket cams make power without tuning?
I know it wouldn´t be to the full potential of the cams but some power should be realised shouldn´t it?

guys put cams in b/d/f and h series honda for years without tuning and made power, is i-vtec/vtc causing us to not be able to do that without some sort of tuning?

I have been looking into skunk2 stage1´s would really like to have some opinions befor I go to the trouble

What's the point of having longer duration if you don't have the tuning to put the fuel in there... that's a lean condition and depending upon how lean... not good for the motor.

that´s good to know. I haven´t really familiarized myself with cams so I know little or nothing about them, just wanted to get opinions from guys that knew their stuff

will let that wait then!

Yep -- In addition to that, what's the point if your VTC only allows 20 degrees of cam advance? Your missing out on some big gains without going to 45 degrees.

Guys like moda_way and black_6spd know their stuff, so listen to them.

Those people w/ B/H/D series engine has things like vfac/sfac and alot of other things that can control their fuel output, and other tuning.

If you want to learn more about Cams related stuff, go to ClubRSX to have a look. There's tons of information and example there, such as Crazy Dyno w/ proper tunes on Stage2/3 cams, or un-proper tune causing a blown engine....

About cams, about a week ago, I went to a friend's shop and swapped out my stock '04 intake cam for a '06/'07 intake cam. It does make more power everywhere and there are no apparent problems with valve-piston clearance now that I've logged about 1000 miles on the cam, and yes I've wound it out to red line. Hondata mentions the cam on the secondary lobe has more lift and duration. By the way the car feels, it seems both lobes have been reprofiled some because now my '04 has strong pull at 4000 and what I like to call BMW E36 M3 power at 5000 when VTEC switches over. I was planning to get the car dyno'd at Churchs later this week. When I do, I'll post the result. There are plenty of dynos floating around with guys having the same set-up as I do, which is I/H/E, Random Technology, and UR underdrive pulleys so a comparison can be made. So do I recommend it as a mild upgrade? - Yes!

If you want to go wild, Marcus @ Heeltoe says Hytech has a set-up where you get a 45 degree VTC, reflash for that application, cams, headers, etc, etc, etc. I talked to a Forum member that said it was almost "DS Evo" fast, in his words. Cheers.
