body kit question

apologies if this has been discussed ad nauseam, as i'm new here (and i've tried searching).

as far as the under body spoilers or after-mkt body kits go, how much height is there between the ground and the actual car if you have the front/rear/side lips or spoilers installed and if you don't lower your car? the only reason i ask is b/c living in NYC, some of the entrances/exits of parking lots or speed bumps on local roads can be brutal. i'd like to eventually fit my car w/ a body kit, but not if it means constant scraping b/c of the angles of exits or bumps.

guess my 2nd question would be whether or not the 04-06 OEM under body spoilers fit the 07 TSX?

third is, anyone know the cost of the official acura spoiler lip for the trunk (i think the replica thread had a pic and price of around 200-300 bucks?). thanks!

If you're not lowering I don't think it's a problem, unless you approach a uphill roads or entrances at crazy (I'm not going to stop for anything) speeds. I think you'll be completely fine on clearance.

04-05 OEM Underbody spoilers fit on their described years, and 06-07 OEM Underbody spoilers fit on their own years. The body style changed over the years however I do know that the sideskirts are interchangeable. That's all.

As for the lip spoiler, there's no actual word (i think) about Acura bringing out a Lip Spoiler for us yet, I'm pretty sure there is going to be one, however your only choices is the Spoon Spoiler, which is pretty pricey, and the EDM Ducktail spoiler which is also a bit on the pricey side. Cheap alternatives are the M3 Spoiler, but honestly, I've bought an M3 spoiler, and I've taken mine off. I just love the clean look. I'll go a different route later, perhaps Spoon or replica EDM. Hope that helps. Good luck and post pictures when you're done!

Going along with EuRTSX, if your not lowering it, you won't have any problems with the body kit unless you are flying over some types of bump where just about any normal car would bottom out at anyway.

Same response for the body kits!

The official OEM trunk spoiler is not a lip spoiler, it actually has a break light in it. If you buy it from Acura, its something like $470 bucks. I have the M3 lip spoiler, $70 bucks painted and shipped. It actually just got professionally painted cause i got hit and the body shop took it off and repainted it before reattaching it. SO, now it looks really nice, almost like it came that way

cool, thanks for all the information. it's really helpful!

yeah, the only reason why i ask about the trunk lip is b/c i went back to the dealership i bought mine and noticed that the 07 TLs on the floor actually had trunk lip spoilers. might've been specifically for the type-S. but it made me wonder if there is an OEM version for the TSX too.

As of present day, there are no lip spoilers offered by Acura for the TSX.

xjohnkdoex- You were right with the new TL-S having the new trunk lip spoiler!

EuRTSX & john - Check it out http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/...BLUE_PEARL%29#

If you click on diagrams, it shows it! Looks like they now have one.....for the TL-S but as for dimensions or fitting the TSX, i highly doubt it!

wow, that's bolted on for the TL?

i don't know about that. i kinda like the option you have of taking it off if you used the double-sided tape.

I already know that they offer a lip spoiler for the TL and TL-S. I'm just saying as of right now, Acura doesn't offer any lip spoilers for the TSX.

I have the OEM kit for my 06 and as far as I am aware of the same kit is offered for the 07, it didn't make my car any lower either, just flares it out a bit.

nice. i like the OEM b/c it's not so flashy/sporty, but it does the job and makes the car look fuller. are you getting a spoiler for the trunk?

actually, here's kinda a stupid question--do the OEM underbody spoilers fit over the existing pieces of the car? or do they take out whatever's there and then fit on the underbody spoiler pieces?

i was wondering if did this to my car, am i going to have to find storage space for the front/back/side pieces.

Some asshole at campus swiped my car in the parking lot at my campus the other day and drove off while I was in class (stupid SOB I would give him a boot up the ass if I could find out who did it), so now there are some scratches on my driver side rear bumper near the tire. The scratches come up to about knee height on me (im a little taller than 5'10").

Can somebody give me the height the rear OEM underbody spoiler goes up to on the bumper because I was wondering if the spoiler is just bolted onto the existing bumper then maybe I won't need to get it repaired if the scratches just get covered up. This is for a 2006 TSX.

The OEM lips attach over the top of the existing bumpers, they use 3M adhesive tape around the front and screw into where your fender liners screw in on the fenders. The top of the rear lip attaches right where the line that starts the bottom curve on the bumper and will not affect your clearance. You wont be able to keep your mud guards if you have them with the lips.

nice, so there's no damage to the original frame and it can be taken off if i wanted to sell the kit separately?

i was looking around for pricing. the lowest i've seen is either on ebay or hondaacuraworld.com for around $900-ish, which isn't all that bad.

Yeah you can remove it whenever you want, the tape may be a little hard, but with a hair dryer it'll come off too. There is no damage to the bumpers at all or mount locations and comes with all the needed parts. I wouldn't go on ebay alot of times on there it's "OEM Style" which is usually cheap poorly made fiberglass that wont fit or mount right. The lips from Acura are urethane and a perfect fit with all needed parts. Try hondacuraworld.com they offer pretty good prices on OEM parts. As far as your other question about whether or not I'm gonna put on a spoiler, MAYBE a trunk lip, that'd be it if anything. I just shaved my emblems and really like the clean look, don't want to clutter it up lol.

I have an '04 with the OEM body kit and A-Spec suspension, and have not had any issues with scraping at all. Car looks worlds better with these two upgrades, IMO.
