Another quick question about the JDM headlights!!

I'm thinking about purchasing Jdm headlights but want to ask few questions before the purchase it made.

1.) I heard many people are experiencing with headlights fogging up? Is this true?
2.) I know that lot of you guys kept the Jdm corner lights but is it difficult to replace with some brighter hyper white bulbs?

thanks,

i only had a tiny fog patch a couple nights ago which went away shortly after pulling into my garage. i'm not sure where the moisture came from, i have since gone through a touchless car wash and had no condensation show up inside. changing the parking light bulbs is easy when you are installing the headlights. somewhat trickier when they are on the car. but not too bad.

ahhhh.. Could you tell me where this moisture appeared at? which part of the headlight? And what kind of corner lights you ended up getting? if you could give me a link? that would be great..
thanks,

No condensation or fogging problems here. Just make sure the fixtures are sealed tightly and you shouldn't have any problems. Also, jigga's is the first problem I've ever heard of with the lights.

to reduce your chances of moisture getting in and possible fogging you might want to avoid the projector swap...

not saying definately not to, but i figure the less you mess around with the headlights the better your chances of not disturbing their integrity. mine might be perfectly fine though in the end. its all up to you the risk you take. i can tell you though it is a bitch getting those projectors out. it requires some effort. the assembly is larger than the opening.

1# there is not a problem with fogging that you would not get with stock ones. That means, there basically is no issue as long as you don't take them apart.

2# don't swap the projectors. You are not going to blind people. If you end up in hell one day, I promise it is not because of running JDM headlights.

3# I have these in stock so let me know if you want to get some pricing!

This is totally not true. I've swapped the projectors a few times with no problems. They don't come out easy, but with a little planning and force they pop right out. I don't want to discourage anyone from getting these because of misinformation. Point to other threads where people had moisture problems because of a jdm swap please! (without opening the headlight housings)

reach I was just saying if you want to be especially careful. i have absoluletly no idea whether doing the swap contributed to the small amount of fogging.

bottom line is buy them from mr. heeltoe as he is the man and they look sweet

jiggaman, I finally figured out what was causing that fogging up issue. It was the air that got in there before the install. I bet your moisture issue happened after the install right? Once everything is plugged in, the heat from the hid's should solve this issue. I hope I'm right!!

no fogging here either, they've been perfect. replacing the sidemarker bulbs is easy w/ the headlights out. once they're on, you need to pull back the fender liner

I actually just retrieved the small metal pieces that cut off the beam. It is in between the reflector and the lens. Remove the screws (3) from the reflector and the one holding the small metal peice to the reflector, tilt the relfector out of the way to get a hold of the peice you want with the needle nose pliers and pull it on out. It is much smaller than the opening. Getting it back in is more tedious. I used my fingers to hold the metal piece while I tucked it behind the reflector and into position. Their are two pins protruding from the sides of the base of the beam cut off peice that slide into two holes in the frame of the lens. Once into position slowly lower the reflector back down and screw things back together. During this some small particles will fall into the lens and make specks on the glass. To remove these I used a Bamboo scewer and a que-tip taped to it to clean off the inside of the lens. You can bend the que-tip to help reach around the piece that was just installed. Hope this helps with regards to projector swapping. No fogging by the way.

The lens is what you see from the outside. The reflector is the reflective cone that the bulb sits in, and the beam cut off piece sits between the lens and the bulb. It is the peice that cuts the light beam in half to not blind on coming drivers. My point was that instead of taking the whole projector aparatus out, which I couldn't figure out how to achieve with out warping the opening, it is possible to remove just the small metal peice that cuts off the beam. I live in a rural foothill area and was getting high beamed by every car I came across. I tried adjusting the aiming of the headlight first but that didn't work for me. Now I have the JDM lights with the USDM beam cutoff pattern.

Ha Tony, I dont think you have to worry too much in Seattle, There are Bimmers, Audi's, Lexus, and MB's with HID's all over!

So I think most people around Seattle don't care too much when they see HID's even if it has JDM beam pattern.

Is the installation straight foward? Let me know if you need any Torx screw bits!

Thats acutally very good idea. How did this process took you to replace the metal peice?
thanks,
