Another Header ?

so i just recently purchased a used CT-E Header, my ? is to avoid the under hood temps is ceramic coating a bad thing? i know i did it to my IM and you can touch it after driving for a long time no burn, So if i did the same thing to the Header would that cause loss of power since thats a part that needs to get hot?
Any input will do thanks, also any thing to check for since its used for like 50,000 miles? should i take to a muffler shop for them to check the welds? how about the flex? thanks in advanced.

As I recall, hot gases move faster as they get hotter. Ceramic coating keeps the heat in the pipes more, so its really not hurting anything. Beware exhaust wrapping on the other hand as it can lead to rust and eventually rot if not properly done.

The coating is good. 1) reduces underhood temps.
2) Most Turbo guys wrap or coat. Reason being is that in a turbo you want your exhaust gasses to expand in the header causing a greater velocity. If the heat is absorbed by the steel, you loose velociyt, and turbo spool up time can increase.

So unless you are turbocharged, you can coat to keep it looking good, and reduce your underhood temps, which allows rubber products to last longer.
