aftermarket auto batteries?
what brands of aftermarket auto batteries will you want to get for your TSX? Deep Cycle auto batteries or Starting auto batteries? I want to get Optima "Yellow Top" auto battery for my TSX but I want to get your options on what brands of aftermarket auto battery because my TSX die on me three times the past few days, also my TSX is only 11 months & 22,000 miles. Thanks.

I planned to see my acura service advisor this week to have them check what's causing the battery to die on me. But what if I were to show my TSX at car shows in the 2005, wouldn't I be able to score some points with a different battery other than a replacement battery like Optima "Yellow Top" battery? Just a thought.

Mine died after 1 year and 9 months. (very typical for the Honda battery. This is my 3rd Honda. The batteries all died at about the same time.) The dealer replaced it free of charge. However, the replacement OEM battery is made in Mexico. However, this new one has a 500 cca rather than the old one which has only 420 cca.
If I would have to pay for a replacement battery, I would perfer one from AC-Delco. AC-Delco makes very good quality battery. I also want to try the Optima. The guy from Motorweek highly recommand the Optima.

I have had AC-Delco battery in my 1995 Honda Civic Coupe EX still running strong 133,000 miles very long time compare to replacement OEM battery which die on me very short time. But I'm going to try the Optima in my TSX because I want something "yellow" to stand out in the engine bay at the car show.

look at a stinger battery. It's a dry cell battery, so it will charge/recharge extremly quick. We use these for Car Stereo installs. I've got an SP1700 in my bmw and it really helps w/ the 2400 watts

I just bought Optima "Yellow Top" auto battery last saturday at Super Autobacs because I just got fed up with dying battery on me fourth time or fifth time.
the CCA (cold cranking amps) of Optima "Yellow Top" auto battery is 500.

that probably could be the reason because with 500 CCA my TSX start up really easy, not really easy but I don't have to turn key as often as I did to start up my TSX, before with 410 CCA, it's pain to start in the very cold morning. So with 500 CCA, that's a plus.
guess what? there's another brand that is 500 CCA other than Optima Yellow Top in group 51R which is Interstate MegaTron.

I'm not so much concerned about the CCA as I am of the overall amphour rating of the battery. The stock TSX battery seems rather diminutive in size and my suspicion of its weakness only increases when I crank a cold engine and it sounds like it struggles to turn itself over. Given the warnings in the user's manual not to run the heated seats while the engine is idling, the entire electrical system seems somewhat anemic. I would consider replacing the battery with one with a higher amphour capacity but I wonder if the alternator could handle the extra load that would come with even just trickle charging a larger battery, since it supposedly can't handle the heated seats at idle RPM.
