And the G35 isnt all that, It's a bit overpriced. One who pays 37K for a G35 or Z is nuts, cause I know some people who paid 27 for there Z, and with the rest of the money, customized it.
They may have paid $27, but it was a base model without traction, Navi, etc. As I stated before, add the options that come w/ the G, your price goes up. That includes premium stereo, leather seats, 18's, etc. Don't forget the Brembo brakes: yes you are paying for the name, but how much would it cost to put those Brembos on a Z? $2K?
And yes the sales manager did want to sell the car, as the 2005 models were arriving in about 3 weeks at the time. He said "you don't need anyone breathing down your neck here...why don't you take the car home, show your wife, and you can bring it back tomorrow." Are you serious. I took the car from tuesday afternoon until wednesday night. I got to know the limits of the G well in that day and a half...

I was reading on the 350Z forum that the best Z trim to get is the "enthusiast" one because it comes with everything, except nav and leather. but has the rims, traction, LSD, etc. which the base doesnt have. I also read that most the people on the forum got there enthusiast model for about 29k.. which still beats 37k for a g35. nav and leather could be added aftermarket for about 2 Grand, and thas buying good parts... anyways.. lol how that G35 feel when u took it home? was it MT or AT? Coupe or Sedan?
6 spd coupe. Loaded. 298 HP. That car is sick. It handles better than anything I've driven, and I love to test drive and have driven most comparable vehicles. For the price, an extraordinary value. The car has a lot of power, and can get away from a novice driver quickly. What I didn't like was the vibration through the shifter, and the interior was cheap, all but the Navi, which has a 3-D effect. Take the TSX interior and smooth tranny, put it in the G35 coupe, and you have yourself a near-perfect car. Too bad they make AWD only in the sedan.
The Sales Manager scared the shit out of me when he demoed the car. He took it to 140 (mph) on the highway. It had rained that day, and he took me through a new housing development (with just roads, few houses) and took S-curves at 70 like nothing. That car didn't even flinch. The stability control is exceptional, especially for a car w/ that much power. He even did a quarter mile run, and a 0 to 60 to 0, where he braked as hard as he could. The Brembos do their job well.
After I took it home, I ran that car hard, tesing its limits on my own. I drove it like a rental...
The Z is built for straight-line speed, and the G was created to love the curve. Drive both and you will notice the handling difference. The Z is faster by a few tenths of a second because it is lighter, but the G hands down is the overall winner. If I had not just traded one TSX for another, I'd be driving the G. Much respect to owners of the TSXfor their fine choice, and to owners of the G coupe 6spd for their need for speed.

Here is some proof on the G35 replacement for model year 2007. According to the Feb 2005 issue of Sport Compact Car, Nissan is working on the G35 replacement, which could very well have the Skyline and/or GT-R badge, and will make it to U.S shores. They speculate the engine will be a twin-turbo version of the 3.5L 6cyl in the car now, or possibly a 3.0 or 3.2L. There is a 3.0 TT engine used in Japanese touring 350Zs right now, and this could be the engine they use. This engine will make 400-450 HP! Also, it will have AWD and likely be a 7 speed transmission. The suspension will be an improved version of the current G35 (Lotus is working with Nissan on these improvements). That about sums it up. No word on price, but my guess is it will easily fetch $45K+. Save your pennies.
