4-1 race header

Yeah, so my friend was talking about TIG welding me a 4-1 RH. I hope to get way better gains than the current DC and Comptech 4-2-1's.

sounds hot...depending on what gains you get I would be interested in swapping out my DC Sports for a race header...keep us posted

I'm sure I'll get some sweet gains just as RSX's get with them. The price I'm paying is very sweet too.

yeah, so there is no shortage of engineering that goes into genuinely functional headers...hopefully your friend knows something about that. you don't just melt some tubes together and have a winner, y'know?

No actually, he is QUITE knowledgeable about cars and on how to weld. He is not 17 or anything like me....he is much older, so don't let that sway you into thinking I am getting a shit job done. You aren't speaking to a moron, thanks.

But yea btw, its gonna be a 4-2-1 RH. I don't know why I put 4-1 in the thread.

A LT header also needs the appropriate engine tuning in order to make optimal power. You may even experience a power loss.

Will you be keeping the cat?

In general a race header specifically means no cat

Well RSX's don't experience any power loss. They gain very well, tuned or un-tuned. I would expect similar results in the k24 in the TSX. And as xizor said, there will be no cat, since RH's ditch it. On Monday I leave for vacation for 2 weeks, then after that hopefully the project will commence.

The K20A2 can also advance its intake cam by up to 50 degrees, the K24A2 can't (yet). Long tube headers need lots of valve overlap to work properly, or else they're mismatched to the engine and the result is degraded performance (and this goes for any engine, including the RSX). I'm just wondering how you plan on tuning the engine to work with your friend's header.

I predict a big-ass wet cracker.

Since when has a half-assed job, let-alone in such a precise and complex science as header design resulted into a flukey significant gain? See never.

Someone who knows cars very well and is a very good welder has unfortunately insufficient ingredients to design and build a succesful header.

I'll believe it when I see it.
