I purchased Tanabe PRO S-0C TYPE-II COILOVER KIT last August. Only Height Adjustable. Great for Daily Driving. Definitly not for any track.
If I am right. The only different will be Tanabe Pro S-OC have a extra "Helper Spring" on the top of the coilover. Notice in the picture, The 1 inch thinner purple spring... that's the different.

In the listing it says:

The exact same product and price with FREE GROUND SHIPPING can be found on our website at www.mach1car.com.
ebay doesn't allow listings like that, but it's kind of hard to police..........

What does this "helper spring" do?
Is it effective?

Well, traditionally, a helper spring would take up the slack when the strut is fully extended; conceivably a short linear spring could fall out of its mounts on a really long extension, or when jacking the car up. It also could allow a softer initial impact, much like a progressive spring does.......

Sweet. So what height did you set yours to, and how was the ride at that height as opposed to stock?

I'm looking for a progressive spring/shock combo to drop by about 1.5"/1" F/R

The helper springs are basically all collapsed once the car is on the ground, so they won't make any difference. The main springs still do all the work. Other than preventing the main spring from the slop when the shock is fully extended, I don't know what else the helper springs do. The TEIN HA on my Prelude has the helper springs also.

Here's a quote from their product description:

Helper springs assist with rebound stability, ride comfort and keep the main coil spring seated. Preload of the main spring can also be set to zero, for maximum comfort and suspension travel.

So wait the type II is only height adjustable not the dampening? What about the other one? Is it height and dampening adjustable?

Neither unit is dampening adjustable; Tanabe makes the Pro S-S model which is, but no TSX application as of yet.

Spring rates on these units are not stiff enough for any type of serious track use; I can't think of any coilover for the TSX with softer springs........

Thank You for the answer, LannyM.
It is a soft & comfortable ride, but a still bit stiffer than Stock for better handling.

So, would you say somewhat comparable to the A-spec then?

Spring rates for A-spec is around 300 lb/in Front and 155 lb/in rear. The Tanabes are around 450 front and 225 rear. Ride should be pretty reasonable with a setup like that.

One thing I'm not sure about-if the unit employs a solid pillowball mount or if it uses the factory top mount. A pillowball would be a little stiffer........
