05 AT reflash
sorry guys i posted this question in the sticky but i didn't get a reponse. are the 05 AT'ers screwed from getting a reflash? i've been out of the loop and i didn't feel like reading 30pages worth of stuff.. so if anyone can answer i'd appreciate it.. thanks

I won't say we're getting screwed, but Hondata has other priorities. There either seems to be a problem they can't get past or can't spare the time to overcome programmatic issues...heck I dunno. But Doug's best advice to us is buy an 04 ECU and get that reflashed. Reading between the lines, there won't be an reflash for our specific ECU. Logically, I assume the Comptech Supercharger isn't in our future as well.

In any case, whether or not the 5AT gets a reflash will not be predicated upon how many times we pester Hondata asking when it is coming out.

i don't understand what honda could've changed between the 04 and 05 ecu that prevents hondata from being able to reflash the 05, and yet the 06 was so easy.. i don't get it

I also have heard that on some vehicles the VIN is also part of a programming checksum feature so that if ECU programming is altered, so will be the VIN, so the checksum fails and the car then fails inspection. I'm not sure if Honda does this though.
Point being, the ECU is an extremely complex beast and speaking as an engineer my hat is off to anybody who can successfully crack it.
