$119/hr on labor for Comptech Installs

Do you guys/gals think it's worth it to have Comptech install any of their parts for $119/hr on labor? I am debating whether or not to take my car there or have one of the local Comptech authorized Acura dealers do some mods.

What are you getting installed?

Damn $119 hr? That's way too high. I'll do the install for $80/hr. Haha

My bad, it's $105/hr. From the e-mail that they sent me, it looks like it's that price for any install.

I figure, if they F'up something (ex. squeaking RSB), they'll be the ones fixing it, not me.

$105/hr on a RSB that costs about $120? Think about the cost-benefit of that. I understand that some people are hesitant to do their own wrench work, but a RSB is something you could probably handle yourself... For other installs such as a new suspension, etc., maybe having a professional do it makes a lot more sense because they're trained to do it, and already have the necessary tools. Personally, I'll try any install myself first before taking it to a professional. I know when I'm in over my head.

A RSB is a straightforward install... unbolt the old one, put the new one in place, re-bolt. Things like a squeaky RSB would most likely be due to the bushings not being greased enough. $105 is WAY TOO much, especially for a simple mod like that. You could go to a local tuner shop and overpay someone $60/hr to do it if you don't want to attempt it. If anything, why don't you post up on the forums to see if anyone in your area can help you with the install...

I just don't want to see you (or anyone) pay their hard-earned money to have someone do something that they could probably do themselves...

PM me --- what are you looking to install, etc... It'll be a little busy with the holidays coming up and all, but maybe we can get a few TSX'ers together...

If an authorized Comptech Acura dealer was to install parts like the headers and Ice box would that help protect your warranty?

Thanks

From the way they responded to my e-mail, this is their labor rate for all installs, not just for the RSB. Excited, from what i've been told by the dealer and on AZ, when the work is performed by Comptech or a Comptech authorized Acura dealer it is covered under our Acura warranty. Check the Comptech website for local dealers in your area (don't know about out there in Canada though).

$105/hr labor doesn't sound that bad for SF bay area.
The cheapest I know is Pepboys at $99/hr.
Which is still cheaper than the dealerships...the dealerships charge $130/hr.
