Heh, you should be in a RL

PS. Move to a small town have only 1 other partner, and do your own billing. You'll make a ton more and only have to work ~7 months out of the year.

I had a buddy in school who made about $200,000 while going to school but he was doing illegal stuff! He bought a Subaru WRX STI and hooked it up to the point where he was getting 375 HP to all four wheels! He now has dropped out of that business and works with him Uncle and Father in Mechanical Engineering though...

Lets say you are making 50k a year
so that's aprox $3000 cash (after taxes, 401k or whatever)

$600 - car payment
$150 - full coverage car insurance
$150 - gas
$1200 - rent
$150 - utilities
$400 - food
= $2500
$350 left for whatever

Not much room for savings...
Depends on where you live and if you live on your own or with someone else...

Example:

$600 - car payment
$100 - full coverage car insurance
$30 - gas
$650 - rent
$30 - utilities
$400 - food
= $1810
Which leaves $1040 out of a take home pay of $2850 per month

This is reasonable for someone living in an apartment with one roommate (or S.O.) living in the DC area making around $50k a year.

Haha. I also had a "buddy" in school who made mad loot doing some shady stuff. He had quite the collection of cars (most of them were used/fix me ups, but still), electronics, etc. etc. That is until he got arrested.

I think you're close on this. You know how celebrities surround themselves with "yes" men? Well, LaDanian is really down to earth, very grounded. He accomplishes this by paying Joerockt to be his "fuckard" man. Joerockt calls him a fucktard once in a while so his head doesn't get too big. And if LaDanian starts bragging about his power then Joe is right there demanding a dyno.

This is why I will never buy a house in DC...I might as well start a bonfire with my money. Actually, I would probably get more satisfaction out of the bonfire...

We bought a house in the DC area and made out quite nicely when we sold it to move to Jacksonville, FL.

Industrial Designer. $ = $100k+
at 24yr old my $ =$27k

sorry to be critical but your salary ranges in your poll could be grouped better to get better data.
eg. 10-20k / 20-40k / 40-60k / 60-80k / 80-100k / 100k +
your poll shows the largest percentage at $51k + because it could be $51k or $102k
