Yet another Trader

I traded my TSX in for a 2006 BMW 330i. This has been a great forum, I will still be lurking around. Thanks guys, enjoy your TSX!

my payments were 390/month on the TSX, but i always paid $600 so I could pay the car off faster, my payments on my 330i now is $725/month, it includes 100K miles 7 years full maintanence (oil, brakes, everything except for tire rotation) and warranty. I knew I had to opt for this plan because of BMW's reliability records and expensive maintainence.

The bmw feels much heavier, much more solid than the TSX, also interior quality/feel is far superior. I loved the TSX's interior, design wise, but the plastic felt cheap compared to the bmw. The bmw is also more quiet, less engine and road noise despite the run flats, but on the highway I think the noise level is about the same in terms of wind noise. I still miss the TSX but i wanted more power and I like the solid feel of the bmw. My brother drives a G35 coupe, when he drove my car, he was impressed with the acceleration. I went with an automatic and I have to say it is pretty smooth.

Some things i miss about the TSX are:
-Fuel Economy
-Storage
-Navigation System
-6-disc changer

Full-throttle acceleration: 74 dBA
70-mph cruising: 67 Dba

Interior Sound level in daE90 330i

Congrats on the new car. I think 330i>TSX and it was a wise choice.
Must be nice to have the extended warrenty with peace of mind.
For the next 7 years which is the full model years for the E90. Thats great!

Agree for the most part, but I was actually disappointed with the interior material quality on the 3 series during my 30 min test drive earlier this year. Aside from the TSX's hard plastic pieces (i.e. storage cover, around the shifter, etc) and leather, I found the material quality to be pretty close. The FIT-AND-FINISH, however, the 3 series was far superior.

I know what you mean. When I went into a new 330i I was very disappointed in the button feel and quality of the plastics. The E46 had a nice nice nice interior. E90 is cheap to me.

I went the other way around haha. went from am AMG to a TSX.

Can't bother with cars anymore, they just depreciate. Money is now going towards a condo/house.

Wow. $725 a month for an automobile. That's unbelievable. Guess you wanted that car pretty bad. For comparison, my mortgage is $505/month. I love cars, but I ain't gonna put myself in the poorhouse to own one.

Enjoy your car.

I dont live in a poorhouse if that's what you're implying. I didn't think 725 was bad compared to the 600 i was already paying on my TSX.

I'm with you. I would never pay over $400/month for a car. I love cars, but I think its a waste to pay $700+ for a car. Bmw or whatever, $700 is rediculous.

but this kid is 21 and paying that???
either a trust fund baby or has a job that pays very well w/out a lot of experience.

my guess is he works in the mortgage business selling loans. those dudes are raking it in (for the time being) and aren't exactly the kind to invest or save...

ive sat in the new 330i. i dont really think the interior is as nice as the e46 one. just doesnt seem as inviting especially since it seems to be just a flat uncurved wall of buttons.

the buttons and plastics seem a bit cheaper too.

nice car though driving wise i'm sure. i've read you really need to get the sports package or its not really better than the e46. a 330i is like 40k minimum... maybe he is a real estate broker.. i know a girl who was one at 19 and going to college, mad cash with the insane real estate bubble.

I am a senior at Florida State University studying Marketing/Multinational Business, I have a decent paying part time job and with the help of my parents I am able to buy a 330i. I know you guys hate seeing kids with nice cars paid by their parents (which I don't understand), that's why I didn't say anything. Anyways, I am going to stop now because I can see that this thread is going in the wrong direction I wanted it to.

I for one don't see it that way.... parents can be rich and give their kids all the wealth... .as long as they appreciate what's given to them....

agree. Nothing wrong with parents being rich. As long as they know the value of the money and appreciate things they get.

To some people $700 is like $70. "Life is like a shit sandwich...the more bread you have...the less s--t you eat". And so it goes.

Jesus...what is up with the negativity?

The kid's parent's have money and are helping him with a new car. C'est la vie.

Dude, hope you enjoy your 330 and hope it doesn't distract you too much from school. Then again, you're a business major....I guess as long as you show up for exams and presentations.

You are smart to get the 7yr warranty on your BMW. But you better start to find friends from the law school now since you need a lot legal letter to fight with BMW for their warranty work. I also have a 7yr warranty on my E46 but I only won 1 case over 10 cases I tried to claim.

And I dun think E46 interior is ne better than E90. I sat in a loaded E90 330i and its interior is very reflash. Maybe I am sick of my E46 interior which is dull & boring after facing it for the last 5yr.

Very smart dude! and you also get away from trouble too. But it is an experience! without owning an experience European, it is hard to appericate how good a Honda is. Also, I eventually find myself spend more time in front of my tv than inside of my car. So now I will rather spend money on a nice TV other than on car. At least no one will call me ricey when I bought my Toshiba big screen.

I didnt know if you were trying to be a ass or not. I was just goign to point out that its quiter at 70 and at full throttle, and with the TSX motor to get any emtion out of it it pretty much has to be floored.

I agree completely. Im interested in what kinda finacning the guy got and over how many years that he's making 700+ payments each month.

No offense to the author...if you got that kinda cash layign around each month kudos to you. But I would think for 700 a month you could get a 7 series.

Gosh I guess a lot of you people who are trading in their TSX's want more debt in their lives or don't care about saving up for a house/condo which are better investments anyways cause they won't depreciate the minute you drive it off the lot.

New to the forums, but why such focus on a monthly payment? I'm paying $726/month for my wife's Odyssey. Want to know why? We have a 2.8% interest rate loan on it and want to pay it off in 3 years. At 2.8%, I decided not to put any significant money down on the van. 2.8% is like free money! I think it is more crazy to have a loan for $300/month for 7 years. Being upside down on a car will hurt your financial situation.

For the record - I've driven many BMWs and one TSX. I think the TSX is one of the best values in the auto world. Great build quality, super fun to drive, reliable, etc. The BMW will edge it out in most categories, though, but at a higher cost. If you are in a financial position to afford a $55k car, I highly recommend an M3. Until then, a TSX, TL, MDX, etc. is an awesome choice!!!!

wow, I never thought this thread would go this far. My parents are helping me with this car because they want me to be responsible and learn to work for what I have. They don't 100% pay for everything. I have a job and am making payments. Also, they want me to establish my credit so that when I am done with school here and move to Atlanta, I could buy a condo, under my own name. I already have some money saved up for that. Please understand that I am not breaking my back to pay for this car, and neither are my parents. I am done explaining. If you still think that I made the wrong choice by purchasing this car, then I'm sorry.

p.s.
I am going to pay $1000/month to get this car paid off sooner like I did with my TSX.

Dude, enjoy your car.

I think many of us can't relate because when we were 21 we couldn't imagine having such a car. I was driving a Toyota Corolla at that age, and you know what? I was pretty damn happy about it. It ran great, had a kickin' stereo, and yours truly was making all the payments. It was gutless, but it got me where I was going.

If you can afford $1000 payments as a senior in college, you are in a different place financially than I was in that situation (20+ years ago). I guess times have truly changed in that respect.

My earlier comment about being in the poorhouse was not directed at you, it only spoke to my own situation.

Good luck with your Bimmer. They're great cars.

I guess I'm a little surprised that a business/marketing major would come to the conclusion that $725/ month for a car is money well-spent. Most folks with well-established careers wouldn't think of spending that much a month on a car.

Good luck with your Bimmer. They're great cars.

Imports, don't sweat all of the jealousy...
We all secretly wish we had it easy when we were young (even though we know that it built "character")

For the record, I bought a used POS Ford Tempo when I first got out of school at 22 from a family friend...

"In life, the sweet isn't as sweet without the sour"

Enjoy it and remember to come back and show us some pics, it's a great car.

who cares how much he is paying per month or how much of his income he spends on the car. Some people spend their money on homes, some on tvs, some on vacations, and some on cars. It's call choice, and they are his to make.

I am 2 years out of school (24 years old) and I just traded in my 03 A4 which I bought one year old fresh out of shcool. Now I have a brand new TSX. I have a good paying job, no debt from school, no children, and I like cars. So why not get something nice.

The 330i was more than I could justify to spend on my car, would have LOVEd to get it, but I just couldn't, good for him that he was able to. Maybe someday I can too.

Enjoy it man, I persoanlly love the interior and exterior of the new Bimmers!!

Great that your parets are helping you out man. My first car was an Oldsmobile Delta 88. What a car. It flies off humps in the road pretty well.

I'm not angry or jealous (hell my parents helped me out in more then 1 occasion) but I fail to see how your parents are teaching you to work for what you want when they are helping you pay for a car. If you can only muster up $700 a month, then you can only afford a car in that range no? So instead of a 330i, maybe you could have gotten a 323i?

It's like saying you want a steak dinner but can only afford Mc Donalds.

But then again, that's what parents ar ethere for, to help you out.

Enjoy the ride and good choice on 7 year warranty.

Enjoy your car.
