XM Swap for Sirius in '06 TSX???

I'm a huge Stern fan so I have no interest in XM and want to get Sirius in my '06 when I get in a few weeks. Does anyone have any experience with this? Can I swap out the XM tuner box and install a Sirius one its place? Please help.

I know at the moment they are not swappable. You're best option would be to get that new sweet Sirius handheld and use the iPod port. You'd get the best of both worlds.

Try XM202 for a week. You may find there are better things on the radio then Stern. I used to be a Stern fan too...

Not a Stern or O& A fan really, but for other programming I like Sirius hand down. I have Sirius in my car and we just let the XM run out in the TSX because neither my wife nor I could find anything on XM we liked.

I am looking to do the same for an 05 model and have done a lot of looking and asking around and it doesn't look good for an easy swap. I am going to keep the sirius tuner and simply put it in the compartment below the stereo. good luck!

Damned Acura... why did they have to go team up with XM anyways? I've been a devoted Sirius owner for exactly a year now (Christmas gift in '04). It was purchased for me a full year in advance waiting for Stern. In the meantime, with my husband owning XM, I've discovered that Sirius RULES over XM! I'm so disappointed that the TSX comes pre-installed with XM.... oh, well... I'm sure I'll made do with a handheld....

O & A? Puh-lease.

I'll never buy XM. Call me a Sirius snob

Stern, NFL, NPR - perfect solution for my needs!

I've had XM for about 2+ years now. The factory installed XM was one of the reasons I got the TSX.

I wish XM had the NFL but I am usually watching it anyway. Having all of the MLB games is a nice feature of XM.

Oh, also Opie and Anthony and Li'l Jimmy Norton blow the doors off of Howard. Anthony in my opinion is one of the most talented "off the cuff" improvisors in radio.

Back on topic...

The best solution right now, IMO, is the Starmate Replay or Streamer GTR - it fits perfectly in the bin under the radio. I'm installing this weekend, and will be posting pics of my install.

As far as the Stern vs. O&A shit...listen to what you want. I've always loved Stern, and I have tried numerous times to listen to O&A, and I just don't laugh at it. Jim Norton, on his own, is fuckin hilarious.

I purchased an 05 loaner/service car that came with XM for a year of service. I have sirius too. XM sucks. I currently just run it off the fm modulator and have the unit attached to that window suction cup thing. But I read a lot about the soundgate unit and heard good things about it.

I run my Sirius off of the fm modulator currently but am looking to get the soundgate to make it an aux port. There is no way to completely swap it though thru the dealer or anything best bet is to just do something like this then get that ipod wire cause the 06 has that extra AUX built into the armrest

I have not had a chance to listen to them.I will have to check their show out. But Sirius also has Bubba the love sponge, which in my opinnion is funnier then stern sometimes.

Plus, some of the stations on XM were censored. When listening to some of the rock statons and rap stations.. I was quite annoyed by that.

Anyone elses XM sound really electronichey (i know its not a word) coming thru the speakers. Sounds really strange. The Sirius FM modulator sounds better with the static.

But thats my two cents, I would choose Sirius over XM.

i agree ...XM really has terrible programming. I like some of their news stations, but the majority of their programming is garbage. Just hate clunky controllers laying around. ..

Here's my install...I decided to do it tonight.

http://www.acura-tsx.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30597

not 56k friendly.

Once the conversion kit comes out, I may switch this out, but I dunno, it looks nice as is with the streamer/starmate.

NICE! Very Clean Install...I didn't think about the speaker grille...that would have been a good route too. Perhaps next time...(now I've got to install my old Sportster in my Dad's 2001 DTS for my parents, who are in love with Sirius Gold - great fuckin oldies channel!)
