Wrong Wiper Inserts

I went last week to my Acura dealer to get the replacement inserts. The item number on the sleeve was 76622-SEA-J11. Note that I had my wiper blades replaced with the TSB for the chattering.

So I looked at my old one and noticed that one of the metal splines had two notches while the other had one, and the same ridges were on the wiper blade. I noticed that the new one did not have them. It also didn't have that notch on the one side that locks the wiper blade in place. I also noticed that the metal splines are completely in the old wiper while the new one half of it in and half is exposed. Also looking at the thickness it appears to be half the size. Did they give me the incorrect blade?

Here is what the side looks like:

Top is the original and bottom is the new one:

The bottom blade appears to be the original design. There should be a notch on both sides of the blade (not both ends of the blade), that the metal arm locks into place. And the metal blades do stick out a bit with the original design.

So I guess I have to go back and tell them that I need the newer ones. You would think they would ask if they had two different kinds.

Does anyone have the stock number for the newer blades? I can only find the ones they gave me listed on Acuraautomotiveparts.net

At least they tried to change them. A few days ago I asked my dealer to change my wiper inserts and the mechanic pretended to have changed them but did not, but still wanted to charge me for it.

I let the dealer handle things I don't have the tools to do myself, which most dealerships would go broke if everyone was like me . This I am doing myself but i guess I need to go back to them and get the correct ones.

I just need the updated part number if anyone has it handy.

The inserts for the newer plastic blades are 76622-STK-A01 (L) and 76632-SEC-305 (R.)

I have the full set (both the wipers and blades) for sale for $20 if anyone is interested. They are new in the package, never used, as I sold my TSX.

Thanks for the updated numbers. You would think that the parts guy would ask as there are two models but oh well. I'll head over there tomorrow to get the swapped out.

Luckily with Sandy I stayed home and didn't need them

Was today was really frustrating. So I take trip #2 to the dealership. I explain to the parts guy the size of what I was given was not the same as what is called for on the TSB. He first tells me that the part was for an RDX. I had to pull my old ones off of my car and show him. He gives me another set and they looked like they would work. I get home, the driver's side went in with no problem. I get to the passenger's one. the the lock groove doesn't match up. So trip #3 back to the dealer. I finally ask him to look at the TSB and see if he can find the part number because it has to be in there (how would the techs installing them know otherwise). Finally he found it but told me that he had to order it Trip #4 on Saturday.

Anyway for those of you who need this information in the future here is what I had to get:

Driver's side 76622-STK-A02 (The parts guy mentioned this supercedes the A01 as it is a newer part).

Passenger's side 76632-SEC-305

If anyone has the TSB that you can PM me I would appreciate it. I just want to be certain this is correct and don't end up with the wipers coming out and scratching the windsheild.

Had I known I would have to go through this mess because no one in the parts deparment knows to look this up (even after I told 3 people about the TSB) I would have just bought ones from Walmart.

The service bulletin is 07-015, dated March 19, 2010, which supercedes one with the same number dated May 7, 2007.
If they can't find the needed info with that I'd head over to a dealer who can...

Well I just found out two days ago that the dealer managed to put the wrong inserts on my wipers. I went to the parts department with the parts numbers from the TSB. Parts guy wanted to give wrong parts again, claiming the supersede BS. I told him about the TSB, they looked it up and told me they had to be ordered. They don't even stock these parts?

Aren't these folks supposed to be better informed, both mechanics and parts department?

This is totally confusing as well. If you look at the updated 2010 TSB, the rubber blades that they describe as "old" are actually the "newer" blades that they recommended in 2007 when the tsb first came out. So there have been a total of 3 designs for the 06-08 wipers. The original ones were replaced with the sleeker rubber ones (per the 2007 tsb), which were then replaced by the plastic ones (per the 2010) tsb. Since they completely stopped stocking the very old and crappy blades that came oem on the 2006 tsx's. The 07 rubber tsb blades took on the oem old part numbers for the original 2006 crappy blades. So I ended up accidentally ordering the plastic inserts for my rubber blades that were installed in 2007 when the tsb first came out. Bottom line, make sure you know what kind of blade you have on your car first. Then figure out if you have the right insert.
