consumer reports thinks those rust proof stuff and such are ways in which the dealership can make more money off the car.

Congrats! I just picked up my new TSX yesterday morning. I paid for the extended warranty thru Acura (7/100/50 + roadside) because I know we'll be keeping the car at least 7 years. Otherwise I would not have bought it. I did not purchase any of those protection packages, preferring to spend ~$50 at an auto store or online and do it myself.

Welcome! It seems you've gotten the "limited edition" color (IBP). Congrats.

The extended warranty MAY be worth the money if you plan on keeping the car that long. The rustproofing is definitely NOT.

Enjoy.

thanks for all your responses guys... looks like the majority believe the rust proofing is a waste of money... so i'm going to trust all of you and not get it... now to debate on wether or not to get the extended warranty...

just wondering i know i shouldn't high rev for the first 1000 km... same with no hard breaking... i was reading somewhere that i shouldn't be using the sport shift for the first 5000km.. is this true??

i heard that for the first 500 miles you shouldn't rev past 1000 rpm, nor should u go over 20 mph.

I got both, I'll be keeping this car until I run it into the ground.

You can do a search on this web and get a variety of information and opinions. I kept it below 3000 rpm for the first 600 miles, and didn't really stretch the legs of this thing until after the first 1,000 miles, based on commentary from the dealer. I was also told to watch the brakes for the first 300 miles, as they are "grabby" at first. And - I was told the gas mileage would pick up after 900 miles or so after the car was broken in and had become "used to my driving style"...........

and congratulations and welcome

Plan on keeping my TSX 5+ years so I got the Acura TLC extended warranty for $850 after negotiating. I have had the car now for 16 mos/25200 miles.

as for breaking in. i would say no hard accel/braking. there is no problem with revving your car up higher though. i wouldnt go about 5000 for a while, but for breaking in an engine, i beleive the trick is to keep it from staying at constant rev ranges. such as only shifting at 2500, it will break the engine in for slower rotations. but later on after breaking it in so slowly, you may suffer for the rest of your power band. i would say drive irreglaurly, and not too hard. unless your in an auto, then just drive smooth, dont SS. dont owrry about revs
