Question wood or silver (help me decide)

I'm coming off a '99 TL with parchmant (tan) interior and FULL burlwood kit and shift knob.

It's amazing that it gets so many compliments and makes the car look even more upscale than it is.

Now I know these days, the trend is to go sleek and clean with brushed aluminum etc and I notice automakers shying away from wood.

I'm getting a new TSX and was wondering how many of you guys (or gals) have installed the aftermarket wood kit? I mean, like the silver, especially in black, grey interiors, but I'm still tempted to go back to the wood. Is that cheesy?

Does anyone have any pics of their interiors to help me decide? Wood or silver?

Thnx

Anthony

IMHO, the TSX is more sport than lux, and the wood seems like a forced image upgrade. The silver streak goes very well with its sporty disposition. Keep in mind, the 99 TL is a family near-lux mid-size sedan, while the TSX is a compact sport sedan. It's a different type of vehicle.

That is because real wood is expensive. But, many high end cars still have interiors with wood trim.

Wood, with parchment, is more elegant and silver is more sporty. At age 36, I think you would be much more satisfied with the parchment interior and Premium White Pearl (PWP) body. That is what I got, and I completely satisfied with my choice. I would suggest silver for those under thirty.

I have had the car for about four months and keeping the interior looking clean has required no effort on my part. The only thing I need to attend to are marks left on the lower door ledge when my wife drags her feet across the vinyl. That takes some 409 to clean. In case I need it, I also have some Afta that is used by shoe shops to remove glue. It is about as powerful as lacquer thinner but will not harm plastics.

When I first got the car, I treated all the vinyl and rubber (door seals, truck seal, moonroof seal) with Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Vinyl and Rubber cleaner/conditioner. I treated all the leather with Meguiar's Leather Wipes. Both provide UV protection. The rubber protector can eliminate noises that are sometimes produced by dry seals.

Well ... honestly? I don't think age per se has anything to do with preference but yes, parchment does look better with wood. My problem is actually keeping the parchment CLEAN in city/winter driving. It can be a mess. Slush. Salt. grime. mud. I don't have a garage so it is messy. My last TL had a charcoal interior with was equally gorgeous (no wood).

i've seen the wood done in the dark interiors and I think it can look decent givin that you also use a wood knob and maybe wood steering wheel.

i dunno ... Decisions...

I really like tan interiors, but I like the much deeper brown colored wood accents.

Also, in the TSX you have to deal with that stark contrast between the black dash and upper door panels against the light tan interior.

I never liked wood in any car. It's a high-tech machine, it just doesn't make sense to me to put wood in it.

That's not a standard option so you'd have to get creative. I believe it's available on the JDM accords though.

I'm liking the wood with the black interior a lot. I actually got white with parchment and I'm well under 30. I didn't want to keep another black interior clean or have another silver car that had the exact same color combo.

I've seen the wood... it looks like a 50-yr old man's car. For the sporty look, go faux aluminum. For the classic luxury look, go faux wood.

If I had to get wood in a black interior...I'd want it as dark as possible... That way it'll look hidden...

i have the metal trim kit and i think it accents the interior best...all the blue accent lights reflect at night and i always get compliments on it...people think i put all the lights in myself...

On the forum for my previous car there was endless discussion about what color is best for the car. Some people were quite emotional about it but, what it boils down to is that color choice is highly subjective, be it the color of wall paint in a room, car color, or interior color, trim, etc.
It's the interior YOU like that's important, not what WE like. I happen to like the parchment interior with the "wood," my wife likes the silver/ebony.
BTW, we wound up with the silver, and it really looks nice in this application.
Good luck with your choice.

Hey, WTF?

I did order SSM over Ebony. I guess my brain didn't age as fast as my body.

BTW, ... at least in my area on the East Coast of the US, I've seen MANY MANY Acuras with dark interiors and WOOD. In fact, I've seen many demos come that exact way so who knows??

I wish I can find a pic to show you online. It looks rather stately ...

I personally love the ebony/wood combination. However, I think ebony/plood looks pretty heinous.

My father-in-law has a Caddy DeVille that's ebony/hardwood and it's gorgeous. Also, Audi does a very nice job with ebony/wood combos. I think the style, color, and tone of the wood makes a big diff in an ebony interior.
