Will three car seats fit?
We have a 22 month old toddler, and we just found out we're having twins! Does anyone know if three car seats will fit in the back? I measured the car seat we have-18"- and the total width of the back seat seems to be 54," but we're not quite sure if three car seats will physically fit back there.
Please say yes!

3 should fit just barely in the back. the car is wider in the back than a toyot corolla and my sister fits 3 in the back of that.

Our three car seats did not fit in a loaner Accord. The dealer had to spring for a 7500 lb Ford Excursion when we brought our Odyssey in for a recall.
We had one in a carrier that latched into a base and the other two were in regular toddler seats. I'd make sure to do a test fit.

We have a V70 that has 54.8 inches rear hip room, vs. the TSX 54.4. We have three seats back there: one Britax Roundabout, one Graco infant w/base, and a Britax booster. We have kids who are 3.5 years, 2 years, and 5 weeks.
There's no way two of the Gracos with the bases would fit with the Roundabout in the Volvo.
I would pull into a Babie-R-Us when they aren't busy (Tuseday morning?), find a willing associate, and pick a seat combination that will work for you. Take a load of demo seats out to the car in a cart or two. It's possible that different brands and models will have their widest portions at different heights or different distances from the seatback, allowing you to "Tetris" them together.
I think you could do it with the standard Graco infant seats if you didn't use the base. Another option would be to remove the carrying handle from the Graco seats. Without the seat here for me to measure, I'll bet that the handle adds 2 or 2.5 inches to the width.
Don't get too hung up on not having handles or bases for the infant seats. It helps when moving between two cars, but I don't like leaving our baby in the seat outside of the car. A lot of babies develop flat heads because the parents have them in the same car seat all day. It's heathier to pull them out and move them into a stroller, sling, or Bjorn, etc. Plus, those seats weigh so much with a baby in them.
