Will someone please explain why the TL has more mods available??

I've just finished browsing through the TL forums and have become depressed.

My biggest reason for going for the TSX over the TL during my sedan shopping was the fun-to-drive factor. I assumed that since its a "sportier" car, it should have more mod potential due to the fact it will have a younger age group, a high-revving k-series motor (as opposed to the torquey SOHC J32), and higher percentage of 6-spd owners over AT.

Boy, was I wrong about the availability of mods...

The TL owners now have the option of getting a Comptech SC!

WTF? The most frequent reason we get for not being able to tap into the K24's potential is due to the complexity of DBW / VSA. Hondata was available to have the 04 ECU reflashed and we thought the mod stampede was coming. Well, we're still waiting..

Last time I checked, the TL also had VSA / DBW. So whats the deal? Was Comptech able to get a jumpstart on their EMS from the old type-S 2nd gen TL?

well, considering the J-Series 3.2L engine is a tuned up version of the 3.0L SOHC V6 that showed up on the 6th gen accord back in 1998 (and in the 2nd gen TL), that's given aftermarket tuners plenty of time for R&Ding mods for the engine.

The K24 is just a baby compared to the J-series V-6's. I'm sure as time goes on we'll see all sorts of mods for the K24, including internals.

Yeah -- and they'll be for the 2004 only.

come on, do you REALLLLY need a s/c on the J32 engine for the fwd TL?

how much more bragging rights is necessary? if you want more hp, like earlier post - CT will come out with a s/c for the TSX next year.

I guess to each their own. As a former poster on the bimmer forums (when I was considering a 330i ZHP) there are even M3 owners who think their car is slow.

More HP in the TL will make more tq. steer, the reason I didn't buy a TL to begin with. The idea of making a FWD car fast without a LSD is waste of time - and even then I still think your much better suited going AWD or RWD if you want a fast car.
