Will the dealer give me a loaner for warranty service?

I'm taking my car in for inspection and repair.

I have a 05 auto with 22k miles..the rotors appear warped already and most of my driving is fwy.

secondly, i'll have them fix the retarded center console latch that pulls up the tray everytime.

third, the engine has a ticking noise on cold starts/mornings. I believe it needs a valve adjustment (is this free of charge under warranty?)

anyways, under what conditions or what do I need in order to qualify for a free loaner from Acura? i was hoping to drive a TL =] Or better yet, I've even heard some ppl got to drive a loaner RL??

i will be going to Cerritos Acura since thats where I bought the car.

I've always got a loner at Acura of Temecula. I call the first to schedule an appt and tell them specifically I need a loaner. They've always had one.

I had a TL loaner last time I was in. Was never that impressed with it.

i just called them and they said they can but there's no guarantee for one since they go out pretty fast.

I sort of "reserved" one as he put it, but how can he say that he'll "reserve" one for me when he can't "guarantee" me one will be provided?

he said if no loaners are available, he'll hook me up with a rental.

great, they're gonna give me a pos Dodge Neon from Enterprise.

The Mrs. took it in for the radio light problem and it took a day and they gave her a '06 loaner. She asked for it ove the phone ahead of time and they gave her the same spiel.

No loaners here. Dealers here are weak that way - basically if you didn't buy from them then you just have to take their shuttle like everyone else.

both Tustin Acura and South Coast Acuras only give me loan cars if the service will require the car to be kept for more than 24 hours. Lame. But ah well.

I called my dealership today to schedule my first A1 service and asked for a loaner. They told me they would have to schedule my appointment for Thursday b/c they had only 7 loaners and they were all booked until Thursday. I didn't wanna wait till Thursday and I took the shuttle service option instead b/c the service wasn't gonna be over a half day.

Yup. Had one from Ocean and 2 times from Precision. Precision gave me one this fall when I only needed it for 2-3 hours. Was just getting my 30k service done and the service advisor said, "Take it, you don't want to sit in the waiting room all this time. Go to the mall or run some errands, we'll call you when your car's ready." That dude was cool . I didn't even buy my car there, yet they treat me very well every time I'm there.

Last time I had my car in, they gave me an MDX for a loaner. I also got a TL for a loaner the night that I bought my TSX. They said they still had to do some final prep and I was fine with just coming back the next day to get it, but they pretty much insisted that I take the TL. I like it because it gives you a chance to play around with other Acuras. For the record, I wasn't too thrilled with the MDX. I went into some of the same curves that my TSX eats up and felt like I was going to tip over. Not really, but you get the idea.

I am getting one later on tonight at Ramsey Acura in Ramsey, NJ. I'm having an OEM spoiler installed and a scratch wet sanded out that the car was delivered with.

For me you have to call ahead of time to schedule an appointment and then they'll give you a loaner. If you walk in then no.

Tell the dealer you are interested in upgrading to a TL and would like a TL as a loaner and they will give you one. You just have to act interested in the upgrade. Cha ching.

Kind of funny. I went to pick up my loaner and they gave me a Honda Accord with 77,000 miles on it, dirty as sin, with a terrible smell inside. I asked about the Acura's they had (TSX, TL, old MDX, new MDX, RDX) and they said you need to be over 25 to get an Acura loaner.

I understand where they are going with this policy, at least to an extent, but I'm 22 and bought this car myself, as opposed to mommy and daddy buying it for me in high school. Go figure...

NOooooooooooooooooo!

I just dropped off my car today at Cerritos Acura.

One to fix the rotors/brakes cuz it vibrates the steering wheel. My car has 22k miles and its a 05. The service rep said the rotor/brakes are wear and tear and therefore not covered under warranty?!?!?!?!?!?!

Is that true? Then how they hell did some of you guys get your dealers to replace your rotors under warranty?

And so they charged me $93 for an inspection/diagnostic fee which will be applied towards parts/labor if they find a problem.

Second thing, they wouldn't give me a Acura loaner cuz i'm 23 and under 25. So they sent me to Enterprise and Enterprise gave me a detroit built PT Cruiser. Man the car has 6500 miles on it and it already has some problems. Shifting from Drive to Park, the whole car jolts!

anyways, thats my rant for the day, now i'm back at work.

We get it done for free because we are male. You get charged because you have breastesses and a vanaigia.

Tell them the rotars warped (that is covered!!!) and that caused the rest to go out. They owe you $93 and a set of unwarped rotors! bruing a dude with you when you pick it up to get your $93 back.

Gilrs get ripped everytime from the mechanics!! sux!

If the wheel only shakes when you hit the brakes, that's warped rotors and should be covered under warranty! Don't pay1 dime if you have a warranty!!!

Cerritos Acura reluctantly gave me a loaner when I took my TSX in for 20K mi. service. I made an appointment over the phone. When they asked me for when I told them that I could only schedule it for when a loaner was available. So, they scheduled it. When I showed up the service advisor didn't want to give it to me because, according to him, loaners were only available to those who have the car in for more than a day. I told him I hadn't made other arrangements so he reluctantly gave me an 05 TL but said that they wouldn't give me a loaner next time.

That is screwed up. I had one for 3 hours when I was in for my 30k mile service, and I didn't schedule it in advance, they just offered it to me when I got there. If you make arrangements for one ahead of time, they should honor that.

^^ I really think its at the dealership's discretion. Some are great to deal with and vie hard to give great customer service, some are complete assholes about it, and some fall somewhere in between. I never had problems with Acura of Cerritos service department when I took my Integra there but this last visit left a bad taste in my mouth.

Agreed. That's why I drive an hour out of my way to go to Precision Acura instead of the one 10 minutes from my house. Customer service means a lot to me and I show my appreciation with loyalty. Precision has been nothing but nice to me since day one, and I didn't even buy my car there. I'm appalled by some of the stories I hear on this site. I can't believe how some of these dealers are still in business with they way they treat people. It would certainly be nice if service were more consistent around the country so you didn't have to be so wary of where you take your car.
