Why Would You Call Me Out???

so i'm on my way to a client site this morning on the freeway and a black g35 pulls up behind me and flashes his hazards. on an incline no less! the only "mod" i have is a stinkin' m3 lip spoiler... does that indicate i have some monster motor or something? gosh. he pulled up beside me and paced me but i ignored him; didn't even look in his direction. so he pulled behind me again and flashed his hazards again. i was coming up on my exit so i just went on my merry way.

but seriously, why would you call out an underpowered car???

Same thing happened to me on my wa to the bronx zoo yesterday.
Some ass in a white m3 pulled up next me in my bone stock car and gives me the "yea I'm hot shit in my bmw look" and took off. I don't get some people pulling up on clearly underpowered cars thinking they are bad.
My girl was in the car too just laughing at what an ass he made of himself.

Well anyway the zoo was fun hahaha.

Cool

You know in Honolulu they have tons of Ferrari Scuderia's, Lotus's, Porsches and other exotic cars everywhere.

When I was in Hawaii for a friends wedding, all I paid attention to was the hot cars!

Who gives a crap about a G35?

Disregard and move forward amicably.

must've been a sunday. all the garage queen cars come out on sundays. its very rare to spot exotics during the week - there's too much dang traffic for the cars to really stretch their legs. there are a lot of lotuses and porsche boxters around tho. a bunch of vipers and corvettes too. i know there is one enzo on the island. is-f's are a dime-a-dozen these days.

but hawaii ain't hawaii without all the ricers!

That can be taken two ways, either "I want my car to look cool" or "my car is so fast it needs and deserves one of these." I can't entirely fault someone for interpreting a body body as a claim to the car's performance.

Everyone thinks the G35 driver should have known the TSX was relatively underpowered, but why? The TSX looks sporty, belongs to a luxury brand and has dual exhaust so the reality that's it's underpowered is counter intuitive. It's look much more capable than it realy is.

My car is heavily modified but understated looking and I've honestly never had anyone try to race me. Which is good, because the TSX is pretty slow. However, I'm looking forward to a year from now when I'm (hopefully) supercharged, and can have some fun with it...

Obviously the TSX can beat the Acura Integra Type R. The Type R is little over 200 hp. Don't know about torque. Back in the days the Type R was a street legal racer.

There is a little more to this than just the sarcasm. A while back it seemed like there were a number of new threads in the R&C Subforum about the TSX beating this car or racing that car. And, for some strange reason it seemed like the person doing the racing was invariably an AT owner. It was almost funny every time the post would say something like ".... so he pulls up and revs on me. I take a quick look around for cops, drop it into SS, and .... "

You mean "can't beat Type-R" right? The HP might be similar but the Integra Type-R weighed about 600 lbs. less.

I'm pretty sure a Type-R can defeat a TSX in a 0-60 or quarter mile. If not then the TSX is amazingly badass and the Type-R is a silly joke.

I forgot about the weight. I agree that outside of the TSX looks like a racer but in the inside, it has a mediocre engine. Would you agree the TSX has one of the most powerful 4 cylinder engine around? I wish they dropped a S2000 engine in there. I wonder if anyone did install one in the TSX.

The TSX engine is a compromise. It's faster than the smaller 4 cylinder option for the Euro Accord yet slower than a V6 Accord, it uses more gas than the smaller 4 cylinder but less than V6 Accord. I disappointment comes out of the fact that they call it a luxury car yet didn't go for full performance and ignore gas mileage.

I believe Kurt_Bradley did that engine swap before he was banned. The S2000 engine is even higher reving than the TSX engine but I believe it has less torque than the TSX engine. I don't think it would be that much of an advantage in a much heavier car like the TSX.

It has less torque? That wouldn't work on the TSX then even though it has 240 HP.

I checked and it looks like it does have less torque power.

Yeah, a lamer in a Mustang GT did that to me not too long ago at a stop light. The TSX might not be a barn-burner, but I had a lot of fun with that car. It was very well balanced and the transmission was so nice. I found it as engaging to drive as the 2002 330xi I occasionally borrowed (though that was a slush box).

Besides, having a little stop light competition is one thing, but what did he want to do on the freeway, the f'ing Canonball Run or something?

PS - that got me thinking, could it have been something else? I did the same thing to someone recently, but wasn't really looking for a race, I just wanted to try to let them know about the tape measure and wrench sitting on their back bumper while they were on I95. Amazingly they exited and neither flew off through someone's windshield.

if he were a true car enthusiast, this is a moot point. he should've KNOWN that the car is underpowered. he knows just enough to be dangerous - calling people out with harzards is a ricer thing to do.

if you need to get someone's attention b/c their trunk is open or something, you could flash your highbeams and honk your horn - totally non-ricer way of doing it, know what i mean?

i did absolutely nothing to provoke such a call out. i'm on my way to a client's site for crying out loud.

Oh, HAZARDS... I missed that. Yup, I flashed brights and honked horn and pull along side to yell - the lady ignored me.

Its been too long for me to remember the specifics but I'm sure it was due to his behavior in the Off Topic forum.
