honestly why do people do that? please correct if i'm wrong, but Acura is the higher end of Honda right? well, if that's the case then why do you pay more for an Acura and make it into a Honda? why don't they just buy a Honda and it would be cheaper and don't have to paid to buy those "H" emblems for their Acura? i don't see people drive a Lexus or an Infiniti put Toyota or Nissan badges on their cars? why is that????

I agree, but to each their own...

And G35 drivers do rebadge to Nissan Skyline.

Maybe they feel their cars are safer? Many years ago my father came out of his office to find his Jaguar 3.8 sedan's antenna bent at 45 degree angle; he had the antena replaced. It happened a month later, and a month after that, and a month after that...until he waited an caught the guy. Well, in this case, it turned out that "the guy" was let out of the imfamous 999 Queen Street, TO, once a month, and he would walk the three blocks to my father's office, bend the antenna, for no rational reason, and then carry on his way.

Many years after that, when the guy was "better" he stopped by my father's office to appologise, finally understanding what (and why) he'd done, and offered to pay for the damage. My father said that it was OK, and that he was just glad the guy was better.

The relative anonymity of the TSX vs the 325 was something we thought of, sort of inconspicuous consumption.

Well the problem is the TSX also sells over seas as a Honda Euro or Type S, it's not badge as Acura some people feel the need to take it back to it's roots which is truely a Honda Accord instead of Acura. Only difference between the USDM version and the JDM version is the interior, engine, and some external parts that's different.

Because the TSX doesn't come here as a Honda otherwise they probably would.
I have seen Toyota badges on lexus..es....lexui?

The Euro R badges are a different story

lexus and infiniti owners do re-badge their cars to toyota and nissan.

it's a style. jdm style. that's it.

if the tsx were available in north america as a honda accord, i don't think we'd have this thread right now...

people rebadge their Infiniti's as Nissans and Lexus's as Toyota's all the time...

Infiniti G35's as Nissan Skyline's
Lexus IS300's as Toyota Altezza
Acura TSX as Honda Euro-R

many more...

I think it is cool. I see it as a satire on society's focus on what is outside not the inside.

It's not really an issue with the TSX, since the TSX is under a different name in Europe and Japan. Same goes for the G35s and IS300s.

If someone puts a Honda badge on any other Acura? Then it would be beyond my comprehension.

Here we go again and again and again.........

can we just pick one of these "threads" and make it a sticky, a new one every week is just gettin rediculous

But, for my It is a modification that is done in the style of JDM.
I do it, because one has mentioned, the same body style is sold overseas as an Accord. I've owned Accords and love em. And still own an older one and love my new one. It is a TSX here but it's an Accord at heart.

One reoccuring theme that I observe is how it bugs people because it's seen as "downgrading". How can it be downgrading if I still have all the anemities and luxuires included with the car.? It almost makes it sound like it's shameful to own a Honda, are we that shallow in here?

It is what it is. Changing the emblem from "A" to "H" is not a downgrade just as chaning the emblem from "H" to a "A" (on a Civic) is not a "upgrade."

You can tell when a true enthusiast knows his stuff, the proper emblems are seen on the car. Besides the conversions on rear spoilers, front lip, etc.. and attention to detail, all professionally done and accurate.

When a cheapo ricer with a large fart can does his expression, he goes and buys a cheap imitation "Type-R" sticker with kanji characters he doesn't even understand and a "Powered by Honda" windshield banner and thinks he just gained 100 more horses by doing this.

But wait, it doesn't stop there. It's not just Japanese imports who do it. I've seen S320 Benzes re-labeled as S500s, a CLK 320 "AMG" with stock rims, BMW 323 with "M" emblems all over the car, VW "BORA", and R32 Golfs, the list is endless (and at times , funny)

I personally wouldn't do the "H", but I do proudly own an Accord and I can understand why people do it to Acuras. I think the poster is right, you really don't see people with Lexuses or Infinitis do this (as often) but I think this says something very cool about the group of people who drive Honda/Acura and that is that they have a very deep pride in the Honda motors tradition and aren't into these cars for their social status alone.

Yes they do and I have seen some posts on this forum from people from Japan converting over to USDM. Personnely for me it's the JDM style I liked it way better than the USDM kits. That and too many people have the USDM kit I wanted something different from the norm.

I bought a TSX from an Acura dealer, but I know it's still a Honda. JDM and USDM styles are real. What's fake is if you go and put a Type-R badge on. I've even seen idiots put the Silvia "S" badge on their Sentras.

Personally, I think it's cool when it's well done, accurately done. It's not for me but it makes the car interesting and more rare. It's like any hobby, what's the point of asking what's the point? What's the point of playing golf? You end up right back where you started, $50 poorer, usually flustered, and nobody's ever going to put you on the tour.

The point is, you enjoy it and it's a challenge and it's a pastime.

Like everyone else said, it's JDM. I don't see the problem with it.

The upside-down A on the Civic is weird though. I saw that on a CRX once. I was like WTF. Maybe that's why ricers stole my little brother's A badges from his 1.7EL.

Honda Accords are great cars. I should know, I own one. People sometimes want to show that they're the proud owners of better handling and more luxurious Accords. There's no shame in owning an Accord, or a rebadged TSX.

Well, take a H emblem, and turn it upside down...it almost looks like the Acura A. and vice-versa, the A upside down looks similar to the H. Basically they're both H's, but for Honda, the lower legs are squeezed together...and for the Acura, the upper legs are squeezed together...

They're either trying to do a variant of re-badging, or they're trying to make a statement that Honda and Acura are one company.

When we got my sister's car, the rear emblem was upside down...we haven't bothered fixing it because we don't have 3m double sided tape lying around (nor does anyone want to buy something extra).

True, in the US, the Acura name demands more respect than Honda. When I told my mom I'm going to go buy an Acura, she tried to talk me out of it because she felt it was too expensive and a waste of money...she wanted me to downgrade to a new civic or something.

Re-badging only serves two purposes:

1. Let other enthusiasts know what style you're doing for your car.
2. Confuse non-enthusiasts and make them wonder what kind of car it is.

I once saw a non-honda van sporting odyssey emblems...my mom really thought it was an odyssey lol.

I personally would rather de-badge my car than to re-badge it to a car people wouldn't recognize.

Changing the Acura emblem to the Honda emblem is cool. But once you change one emblem, you gotta change all of them inside and outside the car. Othewise, it wouldn't look right. Can't have a H emblem in the front and a Acura emblem in the back and steering wheel. That's not a complete job.

Quick Reply: why do people have "H" emblem on Acuras?
