Who all has a noisy seat?

Just curious on how many people's seats are noisy, i.e. if you get out of the car and it squeeks, or if you push the side of the cushion it squeeks. I was thinking it was either the leather or the cushion inside doesnt have enough, but anyway do you guys know how much new seats would cost? (OEM)

Mine makes a little bit of noise getting in and out. No more than one would suspect. The seat is probably going to be insanely expensive to buy new. If I had to guess I'm thinking in the $1,500 range but I don't know for sure.

this is a known problem says my dealer.
mine squeaked when it was new. they took it off, grinded something
down, and now it's dead silent.

My driver seat recently started squeaking as well and from what I can tell it occurs where the vinyl on the side of the seat pan rubs against the edge of the plastic panel just above the adjustment controls. This is probably due to the drying out/out-gassing of the natural oils in the plastics due to the changes in temperature and humidity.

Although I haven't had time to try it, I'm pretty sure if you take some leather or vinyl conditioner and apply it between the vinyl and plastic, this will reduce the friction that causes the squeaking. However, a more permanent solution may be to insert a piece of felt or cloth between the seat and the plastic which won't degrade over time due to the changes in the interior environment.

Guess I am one of the lucky ones- my seats do not have any squeaks (knock on wood). It also has no rattles. Not bad for 70,000 miles

The squeak I get sounds like the vinyl on plastic sound glog999 is describing. It's so minor I haven't bothered to do anything about it.

There was a TSB issued for the problem I believe MMsTSX is describing. That squeak is coming from where the seat bolts up to the floor. The TSB says to cut a little piece of carpet from under the seat and put it between the mount on the seat and the metal floor.

My seat squeaks. I've taken it off a few times to lube the bolts and make sure things are good and tight but it never accomplished anything. I may try the "cut some carpet and glue it down" idea when it's warmer out. I've had that seat out of my car a good four times messing with this and eventually just got sick of it and decided to turn the radio up instead.

I'm just going to replace the front seats with race seats anyhow so until I do that I can live with it.

Look up the TSB. It's got diagrams of exactly what to do. I'd probably find something to put in there that's not a piece of carpet I cut off another part of my car but that's just me.

not sure about the TSB.

but I noticed my driver's side seat squeaking when the car was new.
first thing it ever went to the dealer for.

the service manager said this has been a known problem since the 04 model
and that you'd figure that Honda would have fixed it by now, but no.

he told me that he grinded something down, not sure if it was on the rail or
where it was, but that was his explaination. I'm sure there must be at least
one TSB for it. I had my seats out recently as I'm installing some Brides very soon
and there wasn't any noticable pieces of carpet removed or whatever.
so there just may be two different squeaking problems/fixes, not sure.

I would imagine he grinded down whatever piece of the mounting bracket it is that rubs against the bare metal under the seat (ie, the spot you would put the carpet if you followed the TSB). I'm going to hit up a local crafts store (I believe at this juncture the kids would encourage me to say, "no homo") and score some felt or similar to stick in there instead of messing around with deconstruction of my vehicle's carpeting.

The squeek i was talking about is the leather rubbing against the plastic... =/ i guess i'll just have to deal w/ it and put felt tape/ condition it more often... thanks for the info guys

I've started getting that vinyl on plastic squeak in recent weeks as well. It seems to have started when the weather cooled off. The annoying thing is that its on the inside of the seat. Like between the seat and the center console. So, short of removing one of them, there's no way to get some felt or anything down there to do anything about it. Might have the dealer look at it when I take it in for the next oil change. Its getting very consistent and easy to reproduce, unlike my passenger door clunk.

Removing the seat takes a socket set and ten minutes of time. It's held on by four bolts. Just remove it and take a look, it's really not that hard.
