07 Driver side mirror replacement
07 Driver side mirror replacement
Hey folks,
I've been lurking for quite some time but finally needed to register to ask a question.
Last week some tool side swiped me while I was parked at a client's in Torrance, CA. The only damage that was done was my driver side mirror was clipped off.
$275 later I got a new mirror from Del Ray Acura.
How much of a pain is it to replace this thing? Do I have to pull off the entire door panel? Does anyone have a link to a service manual or walk through that could help me out?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

This may or may not help... I have a 95 accord as well as my tsx and had to replace the Driver mirror when a bus knocked it off. You do have to remove the door panel so you can access the bolts behind the plastic cover. It is 'locked' in place by the door panel. Shouldn't be difficult, though, as long as you are patient! Best of luck!

There is a bit of work involved... mostly I would recommend you just be cautious of electrical connections, scratching, denting, etc. When I did it, I had no guide... just use your instincts and remove/unscrew every bolt that you can find before you try to pull the panel off. Don't forget there are clips holding the panel in place as well, so carefully use a flathead screwdriver or get a tool. There isn't much give and take with the wiring, etc., so don't make any sudden moves while pulling the panel away from the door, even if you think you've got everything disconnected.
Here is a rear door panel removal:

And a word of advice about the driver's side:
"The driver's and passenger's sides are a little more tricky, but only because of the windows switches. There is also a connector for the light at the bottom of the window panel that's just cumbersome to get to. I wasn't able to unplug the window switches without breaking it, so I turned the unit upside down and unscrewed the 3-4 screws that held it to the plastic face, then managed to get that through the hole in the door.
Also, be careful with the trim- it's easy to "dent" the door when trying to pry it open."

Yes definetly be careful of the window switch... it came apart when i did it. luckly i was scheduled to bring it to the dealer the next day.. I told them i didnt know why it wasnt working and they just put it back together for me..
And be careful with door-open handle.
You need to basically remove the door panel and the plastic triangle behind the mirror. Unscrew the 3 bolts, unplug the connection. Take the mirror out. Put the new one in.
