Where are your window tint scratches?
I have read 40 gazillion threads on tint scratches and would like to try and solve this mystery Scooby. Answer these questions and maybe we can find a common link to those damn scratches. Most people say they get scratches when they roll the window down all the way. IS this the case for you?
- So where are everyones scratches?
- Which window(s)?
- How many inches from the front or rear of the window?
- How thick (width) are the scratches?
- Do they run all the way up and down, or just part way up or down?
- Are they deep? Have they penatrated through the film to the glass?
There may be something in the door that is causing the gasket to scratch the window. Lets try to narrow it down to a certain location and see if we can't beat this monster.
If you have scratches, please answer these questions!

- So where are everyones scratches?
Its sporadic across the window
- Which window(s)?
Both front windows and since the back rarely gets used I think there's a scratch on one of them
- How many inches from the front or rear of the window?
Various lengths
- How thick (width) are the scratches?
Sand size
- Do they run all the way up and down, or just part way up or down?
Not all the way up or down
- Are they deep? Have they penatrated through the film to the glass?
Penetrates
This is why I think its because dirt or something from the top of the window (which goes to the top of the door gets dirty and when you roll down the windows past the point where the top inserts into the top of the door, that's where the dirt comes from and gets onto the weatherstrip. Then when you roll back up, the dirt that is on the weatherstrips rubs up against the tint and makes the scratches until the dirt gets stuck on the tint and rolls off the weatherstrip.

btw. my theory on the top window part dirt is the cause because if you look at the tint on the top of the window, its pretty freakin' dirty.

I know you're insistent that the weatherstrip is not the exact cause of the scratches, but its most definitely part of the issue. It can't be coincidence that so many people have these vertical scratches.
