bummer! I got caught doing 70 in a 35.. BAD BAD TL, i blame it all on that.. However the cop was cool and let me go saying i was doing 55 so I could take defensive Driving and get it off my records..
i asked the cop if i had to tell my parents hahah - he told me no.. they threatend to take the car away with the first ticket I recieved..

So do they take out those penalty points? Is it gonna be gone in a year or something like that?

79 in a 55. I think it takes close to 2 years in NY for the points to come off. You can take defensive driving to help reduce them earlier. And its 2 years from when you pay the fine. If you plead not guilty and wait 10 months to appear in court, you just wasted 10 months to have the points whiped off.

Seven yrs in a bimmer and no moving violations. One month in the TSX (same lead foot) and I got nailed for doing over 50 in a 35 zone, although I only got written up for 45. My co-workers said it must be the sporty look of the car!!!
Now I have to watch my speed for the next 18 months...

I was still in the graduated licensing system.
Going through the Canadian rockies I had been passing cars left right and centre, making incredible time.
Near Revelstoke, I gun it up a hill. By the top I'm going between 190 km/h and 200 km/h. Then around a bend there's a cop coming in the opposite direction. He whips around and pulls me over while all the cars I've just passed (twenty or thirty of them) pass me and laugh (little kids literally pointing out their windows and laughing). Luckily he didn't have radar and was coming in the opposite direction so could only give me the basic $173 CDN ticket. Paid it off and counted my blessings.
My most expensive ticket was this summer in Oregon. I was hauling ass through California in the X5 and continued to do so in Oregon. Unfortunately Oregon's Interstates are limited to 65 or something ridiculous like that. He had me on the radar going 94 MPH. I was going to tell him that my speedo didn't have MPH markings (it doesn't) but I decided to just shut up and get out of there without losing my license. $395 US later I can drive through Oregon again.

I'm not knocking on wood either!!
They'll never get me!!!
I should have got one a while back but my counter move was so solid!!
I was at the bottom of a decline with a sharp corner coming up. The ghey sign said "30kmh", warning me to slow to this speed as I entered the curve. It probably was errected in 1923 or so, a good warning for a Model T riding on 3" wide bike tires. My usual speed is a side bolster certified 65kmh. A real carving of the road. I hit it every day on the way home.
One night, my mind thinks "no other cars around, why do I feel like I'll see a cop or something?"
Sure enough, I exit the corner just as a cop wips by. Too late I'm done...
Not so!! After observing his brakes light up, I speed ahead, knowing he's got a tough U-turn that will give me some distance. With the cars behind me set in perfect blocking formation, I whip ahead and execute a quick left. Just as I turn, I look back to see the cop just coming out of his u-turn. Like most cops, he probably thought I'm like the other %90 of drivers, oblivious to their presence and unaware of their "stealthy" tactics. I drive a block up and park my TSX in an apartment complex, the adrenaline rushing through me. I get out and wander to the street just in time to see the copper cruise by, looking for some car he's never seen before. A car he probably wouldn't spot unless it appeared right in front of him.
Another plus in owning a limited production car:P

88 in (I think) a 55 zone, upstate NY. It was 9 years ago, when (I think) the whole state was still bound by a 55 mph limit everywhere -- is that possible? Seems ridiculous, but I think that's how it was.
That was quite a day -- I got three other tickets on that same trip, the same day. I remember the date, 8/13/95. Mind you, I didn't get stopped 4 times, but only 3; one of the cops gave me 2 tickets -- speeding, plus going through a light. About the light, I told him I knew I was doing it, but I was going too fast to stop safely. He wasn't that impressed.
The reason I remember the date..... this might sound dumb to a lot of you (and it should also sound dumb to the rest of you too), but..... it was the day Mickey Mantle died. There were other things going on too, and I was really distracted. Not too distracted to drive safely (I'm almost sure of it ), but too distracted to bother with things like speed limits or red lights. I probably should've told the cops I was upset about Mickey Mantle dying, maybe they would've thought that was cool and they would've cut me some slack. (Or maybe not.) But really, I wasn't aware of being upset or distracted by that, or anything else; all I knew was that I felt really in a hurry to get where I was going.
Got myself a good lawyer upstate, a lady. She took care of everything well enough that three of the charges were reduced to a level that the total points didn't screw me up -- couldn't believe it. And I didn't even have to make an appearance.
Only one nothing ticket since.

Honestly, that's something we've all felt, be it family, friends, or even ball players who you worshipped as a kid.
I had the same feelings when Greg Moore died. He was a CART driver from my home town, was my age and was one of those rare sport celebrities who was a real, down-to-earth, humble man. It's like we lost a beacon of good who represented our city with the utmost enthusiasm.
Last year, I experienced the same kind of drive. Way shorter than larch's, but one that seemed to take forever. A very close and good friend of mine - my grandfather - wasn't answering my calls on the day I always visited for dinner. Just months before, he'd lost his wife of 60+ years to cancer.
I left work and hit the road, a growing fear coming over me. "This is it" I thought to myself. I was going to be the one to find him. As I entered the highway, waves of emotion shot through me, my tears beggining to flow. My speed was ? and my care for safety was ?
I'd always cherished and counted my grandfathers role in my life as a gift. One that many never experience. I'd, in a way, prepared myself to lose him for a long time. I'd yet to experience such loss and was aware that I'd been fortunate so far.
Beautiful thing was, the closer I got, the more stronger I felt. I felt good that I would be the one to take care of whatever was to come. I'd have one last chance to be there for him. I wanted not to hide from this at all, but to face it head on and do the right thing.
It's because of him that y'all know me. My TSX was purchased in full with some of the money he and gran left to my mother, my brother and I. It's because of him I'm no longer renting a shithole suite, but instead, paying a mortgage on my own apartment complete with washer and dryer(I'm in heaven )
These examples are just small in comparison to what my grandfather meant to my very soul. In me, he'll live on in everything I do.
Thanks gramps
Damn you larch, for getting me all mushy!!

Pennsylvania Turnpike. About 1972.
I was written up for 90 (ninety). The cop was being nice. I was actually clocked at - I won't say, but it was 2 mph faster than the factory said the car could go!
The fine was $15.

I was 16 years old, so this was back in 1993 or 1994, I'm not sure exactly. I was going 60 in a 35 and paid a nice $180 fine for that.
Fastest ticket to date was 88 in a 55 on the interstate when I was late to work one morning. That was a nice $330 blown that I could have used somewhere else.
I actually got 2 speeding tickets last year in the TSX, so I have really slowed down a lot and don't expect to get anymore. The first was in Tennessee and he clocked me going 88 in a 70. He was nice and wrote it for 75 in a 70, only a $75 charge for that one and no points on my license. The next one was 60 in a 45, but I knew the cop and if I had recognized him earlier (or he recognized me) he said he would have let me off with a warning, but he had already written the ticket. He dropped it to 59 in a 45 so it was under the 15 MPH over mark and no points on my license for that one either.

ah....speeding tickets...the joy of them all.
first one....97. visiting a college to see if i wanted to go...on the way back, doing 90? in 65.....started to slow down because i wanted to pass someone. cop nailed me with 84? had to go to court w/parent because of the underage thing...judge reduced it to 79 and said i had to go take defensive driving.
love driving through canada!! especially around the rockies. i have some great pics but anyway, i was doing what? 90? in a 55. they were on the other side, saw them pull onto the shoulder and turn around. knew i was busted. so i just pulled over and waited for them. of course, i was in a new rental and said there was no license plate. they just let me off with a warning. and my goodness, was she fine.

I was 16 when I received my first ticket. That was in 1989 in a 1982 Subaru GL-10. I was tagged for 70 in a 60 on my way to work after HS.
The largest violation for me was 117 in a 55 on 635 about 2 years ago by the Mesquite popo. I was on my bike. My attorney took care of that one, and I did not even have to show in court. That was an easy $45 to get out of points and hassle.

Got my first, and only, 2 speeding tickets when I was 16.
Christmas eve 1991, driving home from Palm Springs with some buddies, 80 in a 65 zone. I was such a rookie driver -- had plenty of time to slow it down after passing the officer (hanging out in the median), but I never saw him. After I got the ticket, one of my buddies mentioned that he had seen the cop, but didn't bother to warn me. Thanks for nothing Anatol
6 months later, got nailed for doing 62 in a 45.
Both times, my license was suspended for 30 days. I paid the fines out of my allowance.
I'm not a super speeder, but I've deserved many tickets in the 12 years since then. I'll let you know when I get my first in the TSX.
BTW, Soze, nice evasion maneuver -- congrats.

I honestly don't remember my first speeding ticket (too many...). My first ever ticket was for a stop sign violation. It was on a mostly empty highway in the country at about 5.00AM. I did slow down and look around (obviously not carefully enough) but didn't fully stop. I was 16 then. Had my license suspended for a while at 19 or so for demerits. I eventually smartened up, my last ticket was about 12 yrs ago.

First speeding ticket was back in 89. I was driving home in the evening after school from West LA on I-10. I had my IROC-Z back then. The suspension on that Z was pretty stiff and I hate rattles so when I was in the fast lane I knew that a stretch of really uneven pavement was coming up (uneven pavement only in the fast lane because of some center divider work done before). I wanted to get ahead of two or three cars that were next to me in the No. 2 lane before I hit the bad section so I sped up from 70 and changed lanes. CHP officer pulled me over and said they paced me at 83. Never saw her (yes a lady CHP, and cute too). Only got one more speeding ticket since.

Can't wait to drive
My first and only speeding ticket is 7 years ago, going 52 in a 40 zone. Fine was about 80 dollars and I went to traffic school to clear it. It was a stupid speed trap though, the cop was just waiting on the side of the road, aiming a radar gun at me after a turn on the road. I haven't gotten a speeding ticket in my TSX..even during the time i was doing 120mph

This is not my first, but this was a while back when I had my Integra. I was going 105mph+ in a 65mph zone and was pulled over by an angry police officer. He was yelling and I was shaking at the hands and figured I was going to get arrested. I kept saying "sorry" and mentioning that it was an isolated incidence and that I normally do not speed. He took my license and did the whole background check, etc. Believe it or not, I ended up getting a warning, probably because he was off-duty at the time. He said he could still haul me off to jail despite that fact, but I don't know if that is true. Either way, I was very lucky that night.
Unfortunately, I am not that lucky all the time.

Last year on I-5 in Kern County. Driving a rental Nissan Altima. 103 in a 70. First speeding ticket ever after driving for 8 years. Had to drive all the way back to Kern county(3hours) from the Bay Area for court. I was called up first, received sentence in 5 minutes and drove home. 2 points on the license and 15 day license suspension. Getting from LA back to Bay Area in under 4 hours = Priceless.

First ever speeding ticket, I was 17, the car was a 58 Ford Fairlane Police Intercepter; the details are fuzzy with age
p.s. it would easily pull 135 mph, no idea where it topped out.
