What's the significance of the VIN number?

What's the significance of the VIN number?
I know it's the ID # and all but does it mean anything? Because I noticed in the Owner-Sign in thread people are giving the last 5 digits of their VIN.

So what's up with that?

That's the production number.

say the last numbers were 000027

it indicates that it was the 27th TSX made

The VIN number also indicates where it was built, chassis code, and I think the factory

Can't search using only 3 letters. The search index is not able to do that just yet. Use the full phrase "vehicle identification number" and there are many results.
