What's the most you ever filled? (gas)

So the manual and specs say it's a 17.1 gal tank, I think. The most I ever filled up was 14.5 and the needle was ON E! So is the reserve tank really 2 gals?

for the folks in CA, that's 54.8 liters I filled.

1 US gallons = 3.78 liters

I got the full 17.1 gallons in there and then stopped. I don't know how much more I could have fit and didn't want the gas to start pouring out on the ground. That happened after the trip meter was on --- for like 20 miles. I think that time I got about 470 miles out of the tank.

Squeezing out 470 miles from 17.1 gallons isn't great, it's the ideal mpg for a mix of city/highway driving.

The most I filled up was 14.5sh as well.

I put 16.8 gals in recently after 486 miles on the tank. This was with about 20 or so miles after "---" also.
Won't do that again!
Notice the manual says "Approx. 17.1 gals". Wonder why they muddy up the spec that way?

I get at least 440 every time I fill up. If I don't I drive about 20 miles past the --- on the trip computer.

470 on 17.1 is about 27.5 mpg. Pretty damn good if you ask me. I usually average 29mpg. 482 or 486 is my highest yet. I will hit 500! Oh yes! I will hit 500!

17.01 U.S. gallons. Usual refill is about 16. I read the gage as binary, letting it peg out before looking for a station.

15.5 and I felt like I was pushing it. Way too close to "E" for comfort.

I believe it was close to 15 gallons. I checked my trip computer and it said I had less than 10 miles left to go before going dry.

It's impossible to use all 17.17 gallons the tank can hold. I've let my TL (with the same size tank) go dead, and filling it up only yielded 15.6 gallons. So if you get 470 on a tank, don't divide by 17.1 because you didn't use that much. Divide it by the number of gallons the tank holds when you refill.

BTW if you're getting 360-380 per tank in a TSX, something isn't right. I get that in my TL.

I don't know how you guys get 470 per tank. I get about 360-390 and fill up about 13 gal most of the time.

How many gallons do you fill when you drive 440 miles? The best MPG I got when I filled up my tank drove 350 on all highway and filled up again was 33 MPG.

Well if you're filling up only 13 gallons then you have 4 more gallons to go to get to the bottom of that tank. 4 x 25mpg=100miles add that to your 360 and you get 460 miles, that's about where I stand when I fill up 16-17 gallons. I always put in about 16 gallons every time. I just empty the tank completely every single time. I damn near refuse to fill up before 440!

And yes it is possible to use all 17.17 gallons. That is the amount the tank itself holds. Then you can add some change to that for the tube that runs to the gas cap. My best MPG has been 31.6.

Its a 5AT btw.

dang I thought i was the only one being cheap and not filling up the gas until way past the E!

Today my trip computer said i could go 4 more miles and it filled up 16.1 gallons..

The most I ever filled up was 16.5 after going 499 miles..

btw.. gas price is so high, I pay almost $45 every time! f.. fill it up twice, it's almost $100. I visited Canada last time and it was a little over a dollar for one liter! that is just crazy. I was wondering.. Canadian gas stations only display one gas price, is that the 87 octane price?

Which part of Canada?

In BC the gas price is more expensive than other Canadian cities.

And yes they only display the regular(87) price.

i waited until i had about a gallon left. 4 gal caution seems a little too cautious. i guess they feel it's better to be safe than sorry.

Your telling me you put in 72 litres of fuel?

No way the neck on the tank holds an extra 7 litres.

Are you sure it wasn't 16.19 gallons? Ya might want to check that gas receipt. Cause I push it to the limit everytime I fill up and have never put in more than 17.1 gallons without it starting to pour out on the ground.

Good idea. I checked the gas receipt and here it is for you guys to see.

The regular gas went into a gas can for my wife's Tercel

ALL of the premium went into my tank.

Well, as I've tried to explain before, there is an extra reservoir of about 10L capacity connected to the gas tank. I believe this must be to allow for expansion of gases or something to that effect.

But you can fill this tank with gas. I've been told it couldn't be good for the car, but nothing has ever come of it, not even a CEL, so it can't be that bad I figure.

Once your filling nozzle clicks, by pouring slowly, you will fill that extra reservoir and come to a total capacity of 75L or 72.5L more or less of usable gas.

Me either. The last time I filled up I was at 447 miles on the trip meter before hand, put in 16.4 gallons and filled it till the gas started to pour out of the overflow passage. I just can't see how I could fit 3 more gallons anywhere besides in a gas can in the trunk. With 3 more gallons my car would have gone to about 530 miles on a tank. I just can't see it. You're ganna make me run out of gas trying this ish!

Are you sure you didn't top off the gas can for your wife with the rest of that fuel?

I take my gauge past the E and still can fit more than 55L on my fillup. When I'm done my guage reads higher than F as well. Maybe my car got a smaller gas tank or something

I've never fit more than 56L and the gauge always reads above full.
