What do ya'll think??? In the year 2008, when most of our 5 year loans are up, when our cars have 50-70K miles on them what do you think we could get for it by selling it private party??????

100,000 miles: $8,500
75,000 miles: $10,500
50,000 miles: $12,500
25,000 miles: $15,000
All prices for non-Nav, in U.S. dollars, and assume continued very low inflation.
P.S. I just made these up, with no thought whatsoever.

Mainly though, luxury sedans stay on top with the help of names and the reliability. Since we all are assuming that the TSX will have a very good reliability the onyl thing to keep the prices up on the TSX will depend on its name imo.
What i mean is that if the next few years, Acura must keep the car in top shape. Meaning it must offer a little bit more and more each year (adding the options the TSXers oh so want), and maybe with a slight price hike every year. With this the price of the 04 TSX will stay high and remain high.
This all has to combine reliability with the name though. I think that's why MB and BMW have high prices even when used a lot. They both fell in reliability a lot from a long time ago, but that is how they got there in the beginning.
So yea, every new year TSX gets a little better, with a slight difference in price. I think that'll make the resell value of the car very high!

i think those numbers are too high. My friend just traded in his 96 civic and got quoted for $5000-$5500! Not sure how many miles he had, but about avg I know that. So after 8 years his $16,000 only lost about 65%, so we're looking at about $10,000 for the base TSX after 8 years. With it being an acura, probably more!

According to the Canadian Acura web site, using their lease end values:
24 months: Retains 60% of original cost
36: 54%
48: 49%
60: 41%
My major concern is the cost of repairs after warranty, especially if it does not share parts with the North American Accord.

hmm, sounds about right...i'm leasing my TSX for 48 months and my purchase option at the end of the lease is $14,700. My TSX was about $27,500 MSRP so 49% of that is $13,475. So if I decide to purchase, the dealer would still make money off what is considered a used car...
i get 15k miles p/year, so it would have around 60k miles at the end of the lease

Prediction: With the discontinuation of the CL, one of the NA assembly plants could pick up TSX production, no? Honda's Thailand plant could also pick up production of the TSX since that plant had been producing the large-style (NA) Accord for the Pacific-Asian market. I don't know what the Thai plant is currently making.

You dont buy a car for its resale value, dont worry so much about it. If you did, then youre buying the wrong cars for the wrong reasons.

I'm leasing for 4 years at 25K miles per year. Honda is bringing it back at $11,364. That's an AT with nav. My lease guy tells me that manufacturers do sometimes support the turn-in price in order to keep cars moving, but I can't imagine they're expecting to take a bath.
And with that many miles on it, they'd likely be bringing it back at a level they would hope to get at an auction.
